“Udhar tum, idhar hum”: When Bhutto pushed Bangladesh to the edge of Pakistan

communist ideology especially the USSR was not a favorable ally and after 1971 we were not on good term with the USSR
plus the USSR would never accept a country built on the principles of Islam as a good ally.

Well, Jamal Abdul Nasser too was a progressive Muslim leader, leading a Muslim-majority country but had the support of the USSR.

About Pakistan, it was not about Pakistan incompatible with USSR but Zia Ul Haq deciding to appease the mullahs and choose friendship with NATO.

the Mujahideen got the aks from china after US and Saudi Arabia got involved providing funds to procure aks from china and other countries

That is my point. After a while, the so-called Mujahideen were not heroic rebels who fought alone against the big bad USSR without any outside support.

China and USSR had a fallout in 1969, which by the way had an effect in India too, with the communist movement here splitting into who would support China and who would support the USSR.

And the believe the theory of Gen.Zia of thousand wounds will bleed the Red bear towards death.

Death by a thousand cuts is originally a Chinese historical tactic. Maybe Gen. Zia adopted it for his war against the USSR.

No, Pakistan will not in Soviet camp but it will turn into soviet republic of Pakistanov.

Not necessarily.

Syria, Iraq, Libya, Algeria, Somalia, Yugoslavia etc were all friends of USSR but they were all independent countries.

They got the AK from china through Pakistani Gen.Zia so the Soviet can't trace them.because it was more than 30years old on that time. Mujahideen fight with old AKs till the 84.

I agree.

But in my post just above yours, I have said this :

"After a while, the so-called Mujahideen were not heroic rebels who fought alone against the big bad USSR without any outside support.

Indonesia donate many of their AK stocks for Afghan mujahids (leftover from preparation for war against Dutch in Papua) . Along with a lot of heavy weaponry and explosive ordnance

Those so-called Afghan Mujahids helped NATO in destroying Afghanistan. That is the truth.

The Afghan war then is similar to the Syrian and Libyan wars of now.

Hi,

You are 'awarded' the second most stupidest answer for the year on this board---.

What does his degrees from Oxford and Berkeley had to do with him being intelligent---you can say tat he was very clever---but his nationalization of industry schools colleges in pakistan or to govern like a dictator did not reflect good on his education---.
Bhutto made the bomb. He made Pakistan a country to fear. Illiterate masses of Pakistan won't understand the value of his degrees. He made sure Pakistan won't be under the premiership of Mujib. Helped Pakistan to get rid of the Eastern part which was holding Pakistan back. Got got the POWs back.

Bhutto was the Sher e Pakistan. Well not was. Some say he is still alive. So he is the Sher e Pakistan. Long may he live.

Bhutto was an ambitious man and for his rule, he destroyed Pakistan. He even destroyed that Pakistan on which he ruled.

His semi baked socialist policies decreased wealth, increased corruption and set the rot in Pakistani education, bureaucracy and industry. Whatever you find fault in Pakistan today is the result of Bhutto and Zia rule of 70s.

LOL.

Pakistan after 1971 no longer had access to BD resources to use for it's own gain.

LOL.

Similarly, Bengali leaders who once advocated Muslim unity and were members of Muslim League, turned into ardent Bengali nationalists, thanks to the policies of Muslim League leaders.
The long distance between the two regions, differences in culture and language, economic expenditure disparity - all caused a continuous rift since 1947. But, no one believed in a separate Bangladesh until 26 March dawn operation by the PA troops. The Bengali nationalism was not that rife before 1971 and no one said against a united Pakistan. Even Mujib ended his 7 March speech with the slogan of "Joy Bangla, Joy Pakistan". BAL has deleted the last part "---- Joy Pakistan".

But, the bullying policy of that Kijilbush President Yahya and the greed of Bhutto caused the sentiment of Bengali nationalism to supersede that of Pakistani nationalism step by step. Mujib wanted a united Pakistan. You have to read between the sentences of what he uttered in his 7 March speech. He said, "Janab Yahya Khan Sahab, you are the President of Pakistan. Come to east Pakistan to see what your barbaric military is doing here".

To say "You are the President" was a diplomatic signal to say that Yahya would remain continuously as the President after the 1st Parliament Session on 25 March. Note also he did not promulgate the independence of Bangladesh in the speech because he did not want it. Had he declared it there would have been less bloodshedding by the PA troops? Dhaka airport and CHT Port would have been under the control of Bengali troops of PA and Awami League volunteer groups. So, no new troops from west Pakistan could have landed here and thus almost no bloodshedding.

He did not do so even when he was continuously warned of the incoming of a large number of PA troops in many thousands. But, despite doing everything to preserve a united Pakistan he is being bullied by the west Pakistanis. They should better do some research on the then activities of Bhutto and Yahya Khan, instead. Both were the greatest enemies of Pakistan.

.

Sher-e-Bangla Fazlul Haq was dismissed in March 1954 and later put under house arrest on charges that he wanted independence for East Bengal. Agartala conspiracy case was filed in 1968 ... Yahya Khan and Bhutto came later

This is not the truth, but your opinion brother.

You have no idea how vicious and abusive the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan was.

Salt was put in the soil of farmers which affects Afghanistan to this day. Whole villages were depopulated. Soviets ran women rape pogroms (just like Serbs did in Bosnia.) Men were kidnapped and killed or forced to work like slaves in gulags.

It turned the whole population of Afghanistan (including every ethnic group) and neighboring Pakistan, Iran, and Gulf Arabs against them.

This was several years before the US even cared to notice. When Mujahideen started successfully resisting the Soviets, this is when the US wanted to use them and take credit.

Our friend is too in love with Communism (trust me I have tried my best when I first got here to bring him to the light on reality). This is forlorn hope of conversation just so you know.
