Anyone who thinks that DRDO has done a great job in IGMDP program should know the below 2 truths.
1. This program was utmost priority for India so no escape.
2. They only gained momentum in this missile makings after GOI transferred some important resources from ISRO else you know.

The other field of credit is Arjun.

like they have been doing for decades..................******* chai biscuit organization

They have been made into a tea, biscuit org by these HEADS....

Precision-guided munitions (PGMs) that can be launched from Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) will be test-fired by the Defence Research and Development Organisation in a couple of months, Scientific Advisor to the Defence Minister Avinash Chander said. PGMs are target-specific and meant to prevent collateral damage.

City-based Research Centre Imarat (RCI) had played a major role in the development of the PGMs, Mr. Chander, who is also the DRDO’s Director General, said at the RCI’s silver jubilee celebrations held here on Monday.

He also lauded the RCI for its contribution in every field of missile technology — from Prithvi to the long-range Agni systems.

Calling for miniaturisation of the systems to increase the accuracy of missiles, he said a major thrust was on bridging vital gaps in developing advanced seekers, sensors and actuators. Future challenges included the development of navigation and telemetry on chip and that of loitering weapons with 80 per cent explosives and 20 per cent avionics.

RCI Director G. Satheesh Reddy said plans were afoot to extend the range of guided smart-bombs from 30 km to 100 km.

Former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, who was the founder of RCI, emphasised the need for collaboration between various disciplines and said that convergence of bio, nano and information technologies with the environment was the new-age model.

Governor, E.S. L. Narasimhan urged scientists to forecast technological challenges and identify key areas while embarking upon R&D projects relevant to national needs. He said cybersecurity would be one such important area.

Chief Controller, (Missiles and Strategic Systems ), V.G. Sekaran, former DRDO chief V.K. Saraswat and former NTRO Chief K.V.S.S. Prasada Rao also spoke. Former RCI directors, including Dr. Kalam, were felicitated on the occasion.

So there is some possibility that India has invested on Israeli UAVs system...

Nice development if true. But I would have been happier to know about this at the day of testing those PGMs.

To the members, just check out the combined annual R&D budget we are providing to the 51 laboratories under the umbrella of DRDO and compare that to what EU or PRC and US are spending and it should be clear why we are lagging behind! After all you get what you pay for!!How can we be an exception?

Instead of bad mouthing DRDO,we should 1st ask ourselves what we have done for our country?Atleast they try, what we have done?Who are we to judge them?Billions of dollars have been stolen by our politicians, sarkari babus and what do we do about that?Today, without giving GHUSH,one can not get the work done by the government workers-what the fu*k do we do about that?Zero......a big zero.We actually support them by giving them what they want instead of protesting it.We elect the Scamgracis and their allies over and over again despite of them litterally looting our country. And here when it comes to DRDO,suddenly we become so much consious about its accountability and our tax money while wd take a blind side to the fact that MUCH MUCH MORE amount of money is being wasted because of our 'rulling elite'-SHAME on us.

No Private defence company in India can give this nation things like SLBM and ICBM , So stop Bickering about Privatization. Aura will only come after 2020 every one knows that and DRDO never has given any deadline on that , Rustom 2 will come in next few months .

Look at thr track record first champu.........we have made only nishant and u are dreaming about aura....wow

I agree totally. We spend only 2.5 % defence budget on research when we should be spending like at least 5%!!

But man drdo is indefensible.....a fact remains a fact..........name one good system produced by them??

only successful division od drdo is missile technology, thats it

With all due respect let me tell you how program works. When DRDO decided to build Drones, it formed many teams. One of the team was assigned to develop "Weapon for UAV".

That particular team has delivered on time, and it seems they will test there product soon.

Ain't you happy that one of the armed drone team delivered on time???

Do u research before posting??

1)only indian drone operational right now is drdo nishant and its useless for army and airforce and is being operated by drdo only

2)rustom 1 was tested in 2009 but its still not in production??

3)rustom-2 will be tested in 2014 and it will atleast take 3-4 years before it goes to production if it ever will

4)I think aura will be produced after 2025

definitely dude........they must have got huge help from isro,,,,,just look at their record elsewhere and am surprised that there are pp still supporting them!!

But am afraid u are wrong about arjun.Just find the cag report on arjun and u will see the level of indigenisation!!!

!

Either I wrote something wrong, or you comprehend me wrongly. Let me rephrase my statement ..

When Drone program was launched there were many team involved. Each teme was working on different subsystems. One of such team was "Drone Weapon Team".

That "weapon team" delivered before Drone is delivered. Ain't you happy???

This was precise question of mine:)

So according to your champu logic . Drdo cannot built Aura since they have only built Nishant uav . But smartass you are forgetting that before Aura other uav like Rustam 1and 2 will be developed and based on that experience Auar development will take place.

Where is rustom????????
just answer this.......research a bit and u will know why i am being sceptical!!!
By all means i think indian armed forces have rejected rustom 1 as no orders have been placed!!!

About rustom -2-------------------look at the specs,it can carry only 350 kg ordinance, what weapons will it carry in that limit??

Don't be a fanboy,drdo hasen't delivered anything on uav front(till now)

The truth about rustom 1-------------still in testing and not a singlr production unit available

"Rustom-1

The first flight of Rustom-I UAV took place on 16-11-2009 at the Taneja Aerospace Air Field near Hosur. The demonstration resulted in the prototype crashing to the ground. Stated by the DRDO, the taxiing and takeoff was exactly as planned. Due to misjudgment of altitude of the flight, the on-board engine was switched off through ground command which made the on-board thrust developed to go to zero.[16] Despite the mishap, the state-owned Defence Research and Development Organisation stated: "The flight proved the functioning of a number of systems such as aerodynamics, redundant flight control, engine and datalink, which go a long way towards the development of a complex UAV."
Rustom-1 UAV prototype

The second "maiden" flight took place on 15th Oct 2010. In this test flight, the UAV flew for 30 minutes at an altitude of 3000 feet. The test was conducted in Hosur.[17] The Indian army was impressed with Rustom-1 and will use it as a MALE UAV.

Rustom-1 made its 5th successful flight on morning of 12 Nov 2011, flying for 25 minutes at 2300-ft AGL at a speed 100 Knots. It completed its 8th successful flight on 8 Dec 2011. It flew at an altitude of 6000-feet (max) and at a speed of 90 knots (max) during its 30 minutes flight near Hosur, claims DRDO. The highlight of the flight was that Rustom-1 was test flown with the 'gimbal payload assembly carrying daylight TV & Infra-Red camera for the first time. Good quality pictures were received from the camera in gimbal payload assembly.

The 14th Successful Flight of Rustom-1 was reported on 8 May 2012, with the attainment of about 11500 ft above ground level and speed of above 140 Kmph during 2 hrs 10 minutes of operation.[18]"

And u are already betting on rustom 2 and aura............wow

To discuss more about will be off topic, but I am not talking about the indigenization part, they will eventually reduce it to minimal. I am talking from its lethality part and its also a finished product.

@sardar fu*king 1987,
First learn the differrence between a tactical and a strategic system.
Rustom 2 is not intended to be something like the global hawk. For a tactical UCAV,350 kg ORDNANCE (not ORDINANCE;learn to use proper terminology 1st you dumbf*ck moron) is more than sufficient.

Ppl like u can live in denial, not me

When drdo atleast makes a rustom-1 come and talk then, till then sleep on ur daddy's lap

Sardar ji,I can give you a plethora of list of system developed by DRDO other than missiles:
INSAS rifles, new 3rd gen NV and IR sights, hand held high resolution NVGs,Arjun tanks, warship grade still, demagnetised steel for submarine hull, titanium sponge,a range of electronic gunsights (IRDE),CL-20,a range of PESA and AESA radars,VLF sonar (which even Russians and Chinese have been able to produce),AMRs,aircraft environment control system, light weight armor modules for copters,a range of ballistic computer based DFCS,automatic transmission,hydro-gas suspensions, seekers for missiles, triple hardened steel for AFVs,development of carbon nano tubes for armor,RLG-INS...........should I continue farther? For that pathetic paltry sum which we provide in the name of R&D fund they have done a marvelous job.
