1. It was Israel which allowed Hamas to expand in Gaza in its early phase to counter the leftist Palestinian groups within PLO and outside.

2. It was Israel's patrons - the Western countries - who formed most of the "Quartet" which essentially forced Hamas into power in Gaza in 2007 and created the expulsion of PLO from that place.

3. Hamas and Islamic Jihad won't really matter if Israel shakes hand with the people in West Bank. AFAIK Gaza under Hamas is in socio-economic misery including suicides. I don't think Gazans will be unhappy if the PLO took back administration of Gaza in the situation where Palestinians are speaking of an eventual unification of current Palestinian territories with Israel.

4. Isn't Hamas fighting in Syria against the Assad government and against the Palestinians like PFLP-GC who support Assad ? Through this Israel is actually maintaining support of Hamas in Syria. It is possible that the "Syrian" "moderate rebels" who get injured by Assad's forces and run to the Syria-Israel border and get treated by the IDF, some of them might be Hamas people.

No, Gaddafi's idea wasn't stupid. He was talking about peace about an issue that involves the policies of multiple countries. So finish the issue. Unify and finish the problem once and for all. I am unable to post the vid but Gaddafi's address at the Arab League summit in Syria in 2008 involved speaking in sympathy with Israel. Will you ignore that ?
