UAE power firm plans $5bn solar move in Bangladesh with capacity to generate 5000MW electricity

There was a law on installing solar panel on every newly built building. How much has added from this project? As far I know, it was compulsory, otherwise, subjected to bribe.

The Embassies of BD are certainly related to this type of devious news and it is directed by the foreign ministry in Dhaka.

Dont know how much true it is, but believable.

Seems unlikely. To generate 5000 MW with solar you need the entire land of Texas maybe.

No you need less than 100 square kms to do this.

BD does not need this much free land as it can use space on top of buildings and maybe empty spaces on airports to reach the target.

Video talks about some private sector projects including one 20MW project in Teknaf, south of Cox's Bazaar. These regional under 100 MW projects are getting pretty common all over Bangladesh.

The Agency which is responsible for implementing Solar Renewable Energy in Bangladesh is called SREDA (Sustainable & Renewable Energy Development Authority - Power Division).

They have many different types of Renewable Energy initiatives.

Click the English button in the top right corner if you are Bangla-handicapped.

According to SREDA, total installed solar capacity is only 338 MW (3% of total) but by next year the goal is to take it to 1400 or so MW, with projects already in the pipeline. This does not include the subject of this thread which is a massive 5000 MW by itself.

You build these panels now. Years later you'll find out it's nightmare to dispose of them when their service lives ends.

Do not please worry about our Golden Bangladesh where we do not even dispose of even the garbage thrown all over the Dhaka City. Instead, we will wait for Heaven to send heavy rainstorm and flood that will wash away the panels.
