Hahahhahahahahaha a perfect reaction

. .
I thought Tejas was an "indigenous" fighter... Why does an indigenous fighter has only 50% of its parts made by India?

UAE May Buy LCA Tejas Fighter Jets Due To Combined US, Russian and Israeli Technology
October 18, 2018
Why is the UAE interested in Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas, developed by the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). One thing that might have attracted the UAE officials is that LCA Tejas has around 50% locally developed parts, while its engines are American, radar, helmet display and laser pod are of Israeli origin while Russians has supplied the missiles. This makes HAL Tejas a truly international, low-cost fighter jet.
Mohammed Ahmed Al Bawardi Al Falacy, UAE’s minister of state for defence affairs recently visited HAL facilities in Bengaluru and was given a briefing of the ongoing projects in the HAL. Al Falacy was taken around the Helicopter Complex, LCA Tejas Division and Hawk final assembly hangar. He displayed a keen interest in LCA Tejas,” HAL said releasing a statement.

The UAE minister also visited the Indian Air Force’s Aircraft and Systems Testing Establishment which conducts flight testing of aircraft, airborne systems and weapon stores, prior to their induction.

Earlier, the long-delayed LCA Tejas program successfully demonstrated its air-to-air refuelling capability during a trial involving an Ilyushin Il-78MKI tanker. The successful refuelling test was described as a big leap in the developmental stage and improved the possibilities of the fighter jet getting a final operational clearance certificate.

Currently, the HAL is working on an order of 123 such jets ordered by the Indian Air Force (IAF), which is thinking of additional purchase of the advanced version of the aircraft. Singapore, Egypt, and Sri Lanka had earlier shown interest in the jet, but they never revealed the status, officially, of such interest. The low cost and simple design of Tejas make it attractive for cost-conscious countries in Asia.

If they order now, it took atleast 10 years to hand on them. Will UAE can hold that much for 4th gen fight? After 10 years i see retirement time for 4th gen fighters. To me this news is garbage in and garbage out one.

.
They need it to place the legendary " still in development phase" aircraft in the meusium to attract more tourists. It would be only place where tejas would be available for next 30 years.

First you induct in numbers and then think for export, with a production of just 8/year you can't produce 123 Tej@$$ for IAF by 2026 @Storm Force ;):enjoy:

.
As demonstrated by Zuhai 2018 recently, India simply cannot even 'pretend' to keep up with the rate of aviation development that China has demonstrated let aone pretend to be a competitor to China in the weapons export space.

When you buy a weapons system, you are infact buying a weapons platform for close to 40 years from inception to retirement. You need to be sure that your supplier can both provide support to give operational capability but also timely upgrades so that you defences are state of the art. China has demonstrated she can offer this, India has demonstrated that she cannot.

It would be a wild and poorly calculated risk for anyone to jump on the Indian rickshaw when the Chinese 'Ferrari' is racing off into the distance! Look at how China has 3 different AESA solutions on offer for the JF17 alone.

.
Having critical parts from so many foreign counterparts is more of a downside.

.
Has uae not got a few squadrons operational already??? These arabs are slower than the indians.

. .
Doesn't Pakistan also have such intense red-tapism? Do things move faster there?
Yes the do move faster..100 plus jf17 operational....program started decades after the tejas program.
Pakistan knows the wheel is round so we accept it and dont reinvent a square one.

Not just these military affairs but in general. You know for instance, you have to get some official document from sarkari daftar etc..... You cannot say unless you actually see the ground zero on both sides of the border.

That example of enemy property... Pakistan moved faster. But are the two different approaches representative of the two countries?

How were your travel documents processed in Pakistan? And how was it in India?
