NEW DELHI: UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan today held talks with Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on strengthening bilateral ties in the crucial sector besides cooperation in manufacture of defence equipment here.
Defence sources said the meeting, which lasted for about 20 minutes, was held in the evening at Parrikar's South Block office.
The talks focused on strengthening defence relations, including through regular exercises and training of naval, air, land and Special Forces, and in coastal defence.
Parrikar said he looks forward to UAE's participation in International Fleet Review in India in February next year.
"The talks also focused on possible cooperation in manufacture of defence equipment in India," the sources said.

It will be interesting to observe how India balances out Arabs, Israel and Iran.

why india always eager to do special forces training excercise with less experienced defense forces around the world??
no SF training excercise with UK(but have infantry training excercise), naval excesses with Russia, Australia, SK, Malaysia, US. but on dedicated SF training excercise. we also have CT cooperation with Johann, Iran, Afghanistan, Philippines, Indonesia, South africa... but limited on intelligence sharing. no dedicated CT training exercise with their special forces.
why india is not interested in SF cooperation with counties who have good military with good combat experience !??

.
Who would have imagined MoD level talks with the UAE. The norm was always talks between Ministers of Commerce or Petroleum or Labor or Finance; but Defence Ministers? The winds are changing apparently.

It will be interesting to observe how India balances out Arabs, Israel and Iran.

India has been doing that for years; that is where years of leading NAM becomes useful.

might be they asked for it, also u cant say no to country who is interested for investment in india , also we need $$$$$$ for development, especially to this foriegn minister who specially visited to invite modi to uae and made all this happen

.
UAE, Saudi, Israel, Iran all together, either we are damn talented or we are going to be in one mess

It does not require any special talents to do that. One needs to remain focussed on primary issues; mature and powerful ( diplomatically and economically) nations never see international relations as a "zero-sum game".
That line of thinking is only for weak and insecure nations

i am not saying we should say no to SF training excercise... but we shuold also do some training excercise with major military powers. UK, jordhan, Australia, SK, Malaysia have best SFs.. why we don't have SF training exercise with them??

Our diplomacy is totally based on trade and commerce .We wont allow a military based relation with these countries .And Israel is not a problem for now. They are in tough situation after Iran deal

Trade relations is fine and can be balanced but we can't have strategic partnership with both end of the spectrum, for eg- voting in UN against/for Iran or Israel will be a problem
