UAE ambassador backs strike on Iran's nuclear sites

The beauty of Dubai, despite everything else is - violence is a rarity here. No instance of bombs, or gun shots going off - ever in all my life. Ask any expat who has lived here for multiple decades and they'll tell you the same thing - its the security of life that attracts them here.

"Men sleep peacefully in their beds at night because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf." - George Orwell

If you follow defense matters you would know that the UAE is shielded not just by the U.S. but by little Oman which keeps the straits free from Iranian domination. The UAE has long depended on the sacrifice and efforts of others for its peace and prosperity and the ambassador is wise enough to know and continue to encourage this. Don't you think that this game of private encouragement but public disavowal can continue forever?

JERUSALEM, July 8, 2010 (AFP) - US President Barack Obama said in an Israeli TV interview broadcast on Thursday it is highly unlikely the Jewish State would surprise Washington with an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities.

"It is unacceptable for Iran to posses nuclear weapons and we are going to do everything we can to prevent that happening," Obama told Israel's Channel 2 television in an interview taped on Wednesday.

"Neither of us try to surprise each other," he said, when asked if he was concerned Israel would surprise the US with an attack on Iran's nuclear facilities.

Obama gave the interview, his first to an Israeli channel since taking office, during a visit to the United States by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, which has been hailed as a fence-mending trip between the two leaders.
