Film” Avatar “combat robot (Data)

English Daily Mail “reported on February 17, U.S. Department of Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (Darpa) is conducting a nickname” Avatar (Avatar), research projects, development like in the movies “Avatar” in the same available Legion of the brain remote-controlled robot.

U.S. Department of Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency for the project $ 700 million U.S. dollars (about 44.03 million yuan), with the ultimate goal is to achieve human soldiers humanoid war mind control, so that real away from the dangerous battlefield.

U.S. Department of Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency in the 2013 budget report, said: “‘Avatar’ project will enable the human soldiers with semi-intelligent biped robot to form an effective partner, so that the robots become ‘ proxy soldiers’. “The report also said that the remote control robot will be able to complete all the tasks of human soldiers, including cleaning the house, sentry, and wounded soldiers.

U.S. Department of Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency believes that future wars will be the showdown between the robot “proxy soldiers”. It is not clear to this “man-machine cooperation,” the technology will be the means by which to achieve, but the agency said, “The remote control has made key progress” in remote visual presentation. Hugely speculative and imaginative. Technologically impossible.

Brain synaptic responses can be used to develop a well calibrated control module..

and is already being used as an alternate control mechs with video games..

Amputated or limbless people can efficiently control robotic prosthetic limbs ,and feel what they touch with the use of sensory receptors..

whats stopping this form happening?

the news may be a little overt he top ..but controlling a robot over a wireless system with a brain contoll and a visual feed is definitely possible.

This is a little bit Si-Fi to me. And it is not necessary to keep this robot as humanoid. Other shape might work better.

I was referring to an autonomous robot that could mimic human function. Brain-machine interface is evolving, that is a given. But the idea of a "robot" that looks human and can run around on the battlefield, no.

Having some guy brain-control a tracked robot like a bomb-disposal unit - maybe. But why bother hooking up to a brain when in can all be done by standard remote control?

Why are we spending money on this? We scraped the "Star Wars" program, but we going with the "Avtar" program....
