U.S. to intensify drone strikes in Pakistan

Of course, once Pakistan played its perceived trump card, the other side was going to respond in some fashion. Only to be expected.

Well you are 100% right. US was waiting to see how things will unfold and in hope of getting the supply restored they reduced the operations, but once Pakistan says I am not willing to do anything, they lost all levers. There is nothing left to consider Pakistan.

See if you are helping someone, he will be accommodation of your feelings because he does not want to lose you. That not being the case they will have free time. Yes their cost might go up but they are free to make decisions.

IMO US should start big time campaigns in NW, bomb day in day out and get as many monsters they can get.

(Note:- I am suggesting bombing only terrorist not civilians.)

^^ Well IK has said that he will shoot down the drones.

Obviously he's playing to the lobby. It's not like he doesn't know the consequences of shooting down a US drone, not to mention that the military itself will put its foot down at any such absurd order.

If a US drone is shot down, it's not Imran Khan who will suffer.

A military that is as dependent on American equipment and spares as is the Pak Military is not likely to follow any order that will burn bridges with Uncle Sam.

Pakistani Military has certainly the capability to shoot down the drones. These drones have no evasive targets, and nor are they fast to evade SAM Missiles. A shoulder mounted missile like Stinger can take them out.

The reason they haven't been shot down is because Pakistani Military and USA have an agreement with these drones.

Imran Khan is just playing to the populist demand to shooting down these drones. He is in for a severe reality check when he realizes Pakistani Military is involved in the drone campaign.

You're talking about the only country on earth to have used nuclear bomb in a war. Are you sure that they won't do anything radical? Believe me, if it was that easy your jurnails would have shot down the drones over a year ago. If a drone-shoot-out takes place, next thing you will see is the Super Hornets instead of Reapers.

Completely irrelevant, that was WWII. This is a different scenario different situation and different times. By the way, Japan didn't have nukes...Again different story.

There's a saying we have for that:

Band Mutthi Laakh Ki, Khul Gayi toh Khaak Ki!

Pakistan has played its cards. There's nothing more that Pakistan can do now.

But some on here like to portray an image of Pakistani impotency and American superiority

You are entitled to your opinion. But in reality America is unlikely to escalate to a war to satisfy the wet dreams of a few Indians
Agreed, it doesn't make any sense for America to continue to issue Drone attacks on Pakistan (without any Officials agreeing to the strikes) as it would just destroy America's relationship with Pakistan. With the new government and officials, no longer being corrupt, America knows it's going to have to change it's plan in order to get Pakistan to agree with them again.

America knows that they need Pakistan's help during this WoT and for the safety & security of their country from Terrorists, and taking their backs on Pakistan will just result in negative consequences.

Its america that is losing the plot here , the more they antagonize Pakistan the more painful their stay and eventual exit from Afghanistan will be ... that mulatto obama , pig faced panetta and their zionist pals need to know this.

Well shooting down a drone is not a big achievement.

If Pakistan Military wanted to, they could shoot them down. But Pakistan is getting America to do its dirty work for it, so why stop a good thing.

Pakistani Military cannot be seen killing Jihadists like the Taliban and Al Qaeda. And so, they get America to kill them using Drone Technology.

Most Pakistanis don't even know how drones work or operate. And thus assume that this technology is so far advanced that Pakistan Military lacks the ability to shoot them down and thus we are victims of American aggression.

It creates bad press for USA in Pakistan but its a win-win situation for US and Pakistan. Pakistan gets USA to take out these terrorist in its border regions without bloodying its hands and along the while fooling its public into thinking its at a vanguard of Jihadism.

Quite devious actually. I am impressed.

I don't understand why America wishes to continue the Drone Strikes either. Sure, they are eliminating the terrorists, but they're also affecting civilians and all the money used to create the drones is being used to kill a few terrorists, who are VERY far from the borders of America. There could be more effective and peaceful measures to deal with the terrorists.

America is perfectly fine right now, with Bin Laden dead, Al-Qaeda's leadership being demolished, I don't see the impact or importance of continuing to search for terrorists when their home borders are perfectly safe and peaceful. It's not like the terrorists are in America right now doing suicide bombs or the like.

They're are deranged people in charge in Washington (and it's mostly people who aren't elected) whose foreign policy vision is perverse and unclear. It's a great game being played.

I doubt there is any terrorist like OBL living today, that has the knowledge, capacity, support system and men to launch an attack similar to 9/11, especially on US soil. US intelligence is heavily monitoring everything every second of the day, and the times have changed since 9/11. Why is there such fear for these un-educated terrorists (who probably can't even man a rifle properly) especially by a country situated thousands of km's away, with a top security system, top intelligence agency, and best army in the world??

And since the entire world knows what happened to OBL, those terrorists are going to think long and hard before launching an attack, knowing very well that the same could end up happening to them.

The thing is it's not really about terrorist at least not anymore, it's about energy corridors, it's about Central Asia, it's about China and Russia, and going after important regions.

Using Drones has been very economical for USA. A single drone costs only 10 million dollars and each hellfire missile costs like 70,000 dollars. Far cheaper than other alternatives.

Drone is a tactic, its not a strategy. What the drone is doing is causing chaos with the Taliban and Al Qaeda who will be otherwise busy planning attacks in Afghanistan. This is buying time for Afghan Military to get up to speed and be more combat effective.

God knows best.

If everyone's intentions were good, the world would be a much better and safe place.

What about your narrative, this entire time you've been saying ...........

All I have said consistently that the drone attacks by USA are effective and legal until and unless Pakistan can offer a better alternative. Nothing foolish about that, is there?
