Moscow [Russia] Apr 27 (ANI): Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Asif termed the United States' missile strike against Syria as 'foreign interference'.

Asif made this statement on the sidelines of the ongoing VI Moscow Conference on International Security, reported Russian news agency Sputnik.

"We are against any foreign intervention in Syria. This was a foreign intervention. The Syrians should be left to decide what government they want to have. I think it is their fundamental right," he said.

"It is for the international investigators to decide whether it was an attack or not," Asif added.

On April 6, the United States conducted a missile strike against the Syrian government's Ash Sha'irat airbase in the Idlib province in response to an alleged chemical weapon attack by the Bashar al-Assad regime on civilians, which left dozens, including children, dead and many others injured

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The US strikes against Ash Sha’irat airbase in the Syrian Idlib province was an act of foreign intervention, Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif told Sputnik Wednesday.

On April 6, the United States conducted a missile strike against the Syrian government’s Ash Sha’irat airbase in the Idlib province. US President Donald Trump claimed that the strike was a response to the alleged chemical weapon attack in Idlib the previous week, an incident which the White House blames on Damascus without providing evidence.

"We are against any foreign intervention in Syria. This was a foreign intervention. The Syrians should be left to decide what government they want to have. I think it is their fundamental right," Asif said on the sidelines of the ongoing VI Moscow Conference on International Security, following the meeting with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
The minister also warned against the attempts to change the government in Syria by military means.

"This policy of regime change has not clearly contributed to peace in the Middle East," Asif said.

Commenting on the alleged chemical attack in Khan Sheikhoun, the Pakistani defense minister said that the through investigation was needed.

"It is for the international investigators to decide whether it was an attack or not," Asif said.

On April 4, the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces blamed the Syrian government for the alleged chemical weapons attack in Khan Sheikhoun. Damascus denied any involvement in the Idlib incident and the Syrian army said it did not possess chemical weapons as they were destroyed by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).

Agreed. It's a cruel joke that a country like America, with an abysmal record of human rights (like dropping atomic bombs on civilian populations, invading / destroying countries based on lies, buying out its own top journalists, spying on its own people, killing its own citizens via drones without a fair trial or due process, supporting Saddam as he gassed Iran --- the list goes on; happy to provide references / sources for all these claim), has any right to attack a sovereign country without the support of the Security Council. It's even "funnier" than the UN is HQ'd in a country that doesn't give a f*ck about its deliberations!

Man, if we had a hardcore meritocracy in our country with very little corruption, we really could have significant weight in the international diplomatic community. We are a nuclear power with one of the world's largest armies, complete with cruise missiles, a myriad of delivery systems, exceptional unconventional and conventional warfare experience, a battle-hardened intelligence apparatus, etc.

I support russian iranian stance in syria, i want assad to win, thats the right narrative, but that doesnt mean an alliance with iran, pakistan knws what what in syria hence backing the right side, as i said we pakistanis learned this from the americans, we will play on both sides of the board, sometimes with saudis sometimes with iran, according to our own national interests, its what beneficial for pak that counts, we went to saudia to lead the alloance yet here we are supporting irans stance in syria, as i said isi is a master at this cause we learned from the best aka the yanks..anyways it would be great if we could bring iran in our corner n make them anti india...
