U.S. runs out of investor visas again as Chinese flood program - Apr. 15, 2015

"The United States has depleted its annual supply of EB-5 immigrant investor visas for the second year in a row after a huge wave of applications from rich Chinese.

The State Department has announced that starting in May, no more spots will be available to Chinese for the rest of the U.S. government's fiscal year, which ends Sept. 30.

Known as EB-5, the immigration program hands out green cards to foreigners who invest at least $500,000 and create 10 jobs in the U.S. The program, which caps the number of visas issued annually at 10,000, hit its annual limit for the first time last August.

This year, the program has reached the quota even earlier, reflecting the massive jump in demand among wealthy Chinese to move to the U.S., especially after Canada ended a similar program in 2014.

The waiting line now for an EB-5 visa is estimated to stretch two to three years, according to law firm Greenberg Traurig.

Australia require 1.2 mil with 4 years 10 mil turn over, British is even harder.

C800,000 is very cheap too...at least you dont need to get a turn over guarantee

You'd be surprised at how expensive it can be. I know someone with a Chinese restaurant and he told me the fire code required him to buy ceiling tiles that were $100 each. I wasn't going to calculate the matrix but I could see that adding up real quick. Now when I see a cracked tile I know why people aren't jumping to fix it.

200,000 can buy you a business, but not enough to run a business for 2 years. and during that time you are expecting 200,000 a year in expense (rent, wages, bits and pieces here and there.)

And No, F1 won't allow you any business activities. You have to either have H1B/L1/L2/E-1/2/3 or EB class visa to do business or work in the US. F1/J1 is student visa, no work allowed

200,000 can buy you a business, but not enough to run a business for 2 years.

But the cash flow is working, you have revenues, this is an operating cycle, unless the business is screwed up.

I heard from some one that F1 holders can start a business, but they can't run it, or self-employment without at least an OPT.
