initial reports were about very small damage only.

however if they are scraping , it means boat was mobile with speed under water and hit a mountain inside sea wall which damaged its complete structure as well. you cant scrap complete u boat unless structure is compromised.

There is no way a 8500 ton submarine would sustain "just" minor damage if it struck anything big enough to be reported.

If it were a scrape or scratch then it would never have been news.

The report was that it struck an "uncharted seamount" not an animal.

A 8500 ton vessel striking a stationary geological mass is not going to have just minor damage. Can you even trust the integrity of the vessel to go under the pressure of depth again? It is not like a surface ship.
