In "free" countries, everything is polarized. Even the education. Luckily China adopted universal education. I believe China will eventually win in the China-US competition due to the different routes. In 19th century, UK was elit education. Germany was univeral education.

The UK still beat Germany because of its political, cultural and financial advantages. So having better engineers isnt enough. Your country can get defeated and those engineers end up working for the victors like German and Soviet engineers ending up going to the US.

Diversity is progressive for a country? Really? Look at the world. Reality tells different stories.
China is one of most united countries because we are not bonded by interest but culture and blood. China went through very poor, very miserable period of time. We still stick together. Compared with China, US is like spoiled one.

To keep its present status, US has to maintain an absolute dominant position in every field. Which is very costly and fragile. China doesn't have to surpass US in every field. China just needs to break through several spots. Domino falls will happen in US.

China is not a great nation like the US. Maybe it will be in the future when Chinese culture is more hospitable but not today.

Billions of people from third world countries want to migrate to the US, not China. Millions have even risked their lives to get there. Kabul Airport is a good example.

No. Germany was way powerful than UK in almost every field. UK could beat Germany because the big brother helped UK. It's not fair game in the first place. Universal education is important not because there are more engineers. It is because well educated population fosters efficiency and healthy social environment. Which in turn helps further development.

China will be bigger version Germany. And this time no big brother helps US.

US used to have the capabilities. The technologies to create a space shuttle is quite similar to an orbital glider. Seems that US enginnering capabilities are entering terminal decay.

They didn't hit decay but they were ahead of everyone because they were industrial before than others and now everyone is catching up china being the first one because it is going at greater speed than others.

Majority will eventually catch up by default and surpass because they have their own regional competition which will also force them to surpass the US down the line the more hectic the regional rivalries and competition in Asia the faster the US will be left behind this is natural process and bound to happen

There is no guarantee it will succeed although I would give it the benefit of the doubt. China is probably comparable to the US circa 1935.

I'm very optimistic for China's future. China has everything to be successful. Huge land and population. Smart and hard working people. And genius government(Which some one may not agree on) .

China has been horrible with its image building, PR and media influence. That may change after it accomplishes economic and tech dominance though.

I'm very optimistic for China's future. China has everything to be successful. Huge land and population. Smart and hard working people. And genius government(Which some one may not agree on) .
