The NIH and the FBI are targeting ethnic Chinese scientists, including U.S. citizens, searching for a cancer cure.

In Wray’s telling, China’s challenge to the U.S. today is unlike any this nation has faced. Whereas the Cold War was fought by armies and governments, the contest is being waged, on China’s side, by the “whole of society,” the FBI director said, and the U.S. needs its own whole-of-society response. But what does that look like in a society with more than 5 million citizens of Chinese descent, many of whom work in the very science and technology fields said to be under assault?

The FBI is telling companies, universities, hospitals—anyone with intellectual property at stake—to take special precautions when dealing with Chinese business partners and employees who might be what Wray calls “nontraditional” information collectors. U.S. Department of Justice officials are doing roadshows to brief local governments, companies, and journalists about China’s perfidy. Visas for Chinese students and researchers are being curtailed, and more Chinese engineers and businesspeople, especially in the tech sector, are being detained at U.S. airports while border agents inspect and image their digital devices. The FBI is pursuing economic espionage investigations “that almost invariably lead back to China” in almost every one of its 56 field offices, Wray said.

This is a good thing for China. Chinese used to provide a huge source of talent for American industries. Cutting them from this source of talent will do US further damage and helps China. These scientist will return back to China to contribute more.

I hope white American label him as traitor. Spit at him or beat him up to let him know, only Chinese will help Chinese...

Imagine this guy comes back to China with his billions dollar finance and his talent.

USA has elevated Indians into CEO, finance, software.

Next, they will induct more Indians into big pharma, quantum, superconductivity, graphene....etc. So far many of these frontier research are still having more Chinese than anyone else.

I am interested to see eventually who will prevail in the tech war.

Train Army of Qians (China father of rocket)
And fire them back to China?

Nowadays, it is more likely for those Chinese to look for an alternative destination, somewhere not as restrictive as China, not as obnoxious as US.

Except the only real viable alternative to Silicon Valley's tech industry is China. That's the only other place where they can get the same or greater economic opportunities, funding, research base, etc.

People don't realize how much Chinese Americans have contributed to America's technological edge. If only a quarter of that skilled labor returns to China, it will be a massive boost for China.

Yet, those who have returned back to China already are most likely still maintaining their US citizenship. They have a good reason for doing so. If US becomes toxic for Chinese, they are likely seeking citizenship in other countries, like Singapore, Canada, New Zealand, etc, before returning back to China.

Many Chinese still wonder why big tech such as Facebook, Google... promotes Indians over Chinese.
My observation on tech fair: female chinese speakers attract lots audience. Nobody really want to listen to male chinese speakers.

Indian speakers regardless of sex are very focused on things they are talking. They have talent in selling stuffs to people (even things nobody need).
