No , its important Sancho . Even if LCA wouldn't had become success, atleast it gave us platform and some working industral base to work for indigenous products .
Look at the contribution of LCA is shaping up Su30.
LCA navy even if not , inducted will help us in experience for developing a naval fighter or a naval UAV in future . BTW i am also fascinated by LCA-UAV announcement.
We never know how AMCA comes up , may be IN decides to go for them after development .
There is a huge difference between LCA and N-LCA! LCA will come in numbers (40 MK1 and at least 100 MK2), will be capable for air defense, close air support, even in the anti ship role and will give us much experience. N-LCA instead will come only in small numbers (6 are ordered so far) and used from STOBAR carriers they will have a very limited payload to be useful as an carrier fighters.
To be honest, I hoped they would come up with that unmanned idea for the Bisons, but for LCA that did not even have the first version operational, it is just another dream that will delay things.
Why they make things so difficult? Just concentrate on MK1 and 2, which are the most important versions, get them operational and learn from that experience. Try to use that for further upgrades with more payload, weapon stations and Kaveri-Snecma engine, or integrate that all in the development of MCA, or even better a UCAV. That would be much more useful than wasting time by getting limited experience with a 4 gen carrier fighter that has no future.
The whole development is too delayed to still remain on early plans and dreams, we have to focus on the important parts and go on.
