U.S. gives Mumbai police equipment to fight terror

It will take time.... Threat perceptions are changing..... From the days of Lathi, and 303, now Police is getting assault rifles, automatic weapons.... It wont happen over night.... There is progress, but is it adequate??? "NO".....

From what i know, The Police force capabilities can be divided in two .... Before 26/11 and After 26/11.... Mumbai attack gave a rude shock to entire police force of India.....There was panic and there were swift actions.... but over a period of time the progress has slow down.... May be another shock will awaken them again......

Tell Hafiz, Saeed you need shock but give at least 9mm by the way what's that strange gun with lot of wholes your special forces carry

It has! Specialised units such as QRT and Response-10 have been raised by the Mumbai PD not to mention Force One by the Maharstra PD and a NSG hub now in Mumbai. Local police have been given access to better weapons but you're not going to see every beat cop out with an assault rifle- this isn't Kabul or Karachi bro. Even in NYC do you see every single cop out there with a M4? NO. You're missing the whole crux of my argument....

They do! Every Police station has automatic firearms.... but Indian cops do not carry them on normal duty on the roads, unless on special occasions. Mumbai Police equipment includes Kalashnikovs, INSAS, M4, FAL, and the older Enfield rifles, several models of pistols including Glocks and SMGs like the Sterling`s, the MP 5 and MP 9s.

At least give semi automatic pistols on road not 3knot 3

Well that isnt really necessary in the current situation, and besides, I doubt that its a good idea to give each cop in India a handgun....

Why have you imposed some arbitrary measure? As if giving a 9mm pistol to all cops will change everything. As it is most cops in India are still unarmed following the British system of policing. There is simply no need for every cop in Indai to be armed just like there isn't here in the UK.

There's no such "gun culture" in India as there is in the US or Pakistan. Guns per capita is amongst the lowest anywhere in the world. Day to day policing doesn't require every officer to be armed. For the most serious occasions Mumbai has specialist units to deal with it (QRT/RESPONSE-10/FORCE ONE/NSG).
