U.S. Escalates Air War Over Afghanistan

Soldiers do die, this is war, not a cake party. Arent the PA soldiers being marayred by the Taliban everyday? They even were taken hostage and beheaded in front of the camera.

Please dont say afghans, as they are not fighting on our behalf. It is the talibani war they are fighting.

but as far as i know it was u ppl who welcomed the americans on the first place

.
well they are afghans and if you want to say that Kabul gov is afgan people then my friend you are mistaken as well

Afghan people are Fighters and they dont like western foot on thier soil .... they are fighting as talibans , as war loads etc etc

:pakistan:

The warlords are who they are because of money. They generally control the opium production. And please back up your claim and point out to us exactly who in the Afghan Government is not Afghan.........

Also the average Afghan is tired of decades of war. They want peace, stability, and prosperity. Most do not agree with the Taliban way of rule which is fear, repression, brutality, and death all in the name of religion. But they also have little faith in the Afghan Government because of the widespread corruption and inaction.

Off course they are afghans, when did i deny that? They are afghans and so are the TTP pakistanis!!! But their action is not on our behalf. Afghan gov is Afghan gov, you my pakistani friend cant tell who we are.

.
Well and i can tell you that indians cannot use afghan soil for Pakistan, We will tackle indians in india and everyone need to understand that there is no indian role in post American Afghanistan if USA understand this then i see afghanistan better future

But if Usa wants india in Afghanistan and Pakistan have rite to defened itself in Afghaistan from Indians threat....

:pakistan:

well we cannot change geography.......afghanistan being in our vicinity we consider it of immense geo strategic importance.....and no third country tells us where to set foot or not.... as far as the U.S is concerned they clearly understand that our security is linked with the stability of Afghanistan and we have a stake.....besides there is this news of newly unearthed mineral resources and if it comes to pakistan using its "influence " to undercut us to the benefit of its Chinese ally ......then we are here to stay ....your concerns notwithstanding.......

There were similar arguments about Iraq. All the military deaths were evidence that the U.S. was going to get bogged down and doomed to failure (another Vietnam). Guess what.......It didn't happen. Afghanistan has to be handled a little differently then Iraq. And the coalition may make mistakes at times when trying to find what works. But in the end don't mistake the fact the U.S. is committed to stabilizing Afghanistan.

and there is a fallacy in your casualty ratio. The Taliban doesn't consistently score high casualties (except against civilians), where as the coalition does.

USA is not coming out of Iraq after being successful. If the only objective was to topple the Sadam Regime, then that objective was achieved years back. What was the reason of it staying afterworlds in Iraq and what is the bigger mile-stone that it has achieved recently after which it finds it appropriate to leave? America is just throwing the situation in one of its worst form and running being insensitive to what it brought to this country. Let me enlighten you a little.

US is in fact victorious in Iraq. The purpose of US Invasion of Iraq was shock and awe and to destroy the country completely so it cannot stand up again for 2-3 decades. That's mission accomplished. If you think they were there to establish democracy etc and they failed then you are too naive. All that democratic and other bs is for local consumption only.

But in Afghanistan, its objectives are different. USA is looking to hold its grounds and for good years to come. I am sure even if USA have evil objectives, those are no where achievable for it. It deserves a historic defeat that would leave scares on its face for centuries. It has gone out of mind and Taliban is the only known medicine that has cured its sickness to some degree. If the same treatment kept going with the same effectiveness as now, I am sure USA will come out defeated but less insane for sure.

It's interesting that more then 2/3 of the figures and facts cited are from before the troops surge (3+ years ago) that turned things around, times back then were grim. And even though some violence continues today it is down by an overwhelming margin. Ask any Iraqi in the streets of Baghdad today and they will tell you the same thing. By the U.S. stepping back it will force the Iraqi Government to step into the breach left.

There is still another year left before all troops will be out. Iraq will still get whatever support it needs. But it will get it learning to stand on it's own.

Why does the US deserve a historic defeat??After all it did a good job by bombing the al-Qaida terrorist camps that the Taliban were sheltering. The removed the taliban from position of power, the very same taliban who oppressed the common people, committed numerous atrocities against women, destroyed the Bamiyan Buddha, and choked the development of the country as a modern state.
The US did a good job in this respect.Isnt it the US which is helping Pakistan to get rid of the taliban in Pakistan???Pakistan happens to be the most important strategic partner of US in the region. Are with your country or against your country???

Dear Thomas, since when the victory and defeat be judged in terms of fatalities/casualties in war (though at certain level it matters, but not overall)……..the gain and loss of objectives is everything in wars……...there is only gain, loss and no gain no loss in wars (settlement)……you are a military professional and I assume you know this better……In Yom Kippur war Egypt suffered heavy losses than Israel, but ultimately be able to achieve its objective…..Sinai desert…………In Iraq, WMD was objective (at least this is what US told the world) and now you are packing for home without having you hands on any WMD……can you call it victory….?????.......but yes, if the objective was to let the country destroy and make it no more threat to Israel than surely you deserve applauding welcome upon arrival in US…..you did it…….and same goes to Afghanistan……except toppling the Taliban govt. and tarnishing the image of Islam what else the achievement of US and co.…….????........opium or no opium, they are making money, getting weapons and are successful in gathering hands who can carry weapons, making your scot-free shove off difficult……do drop more bombs and make a pedocal land more pedocal......after all this is your only success.

To many Pakistani's thought the Afghan Taliban were the good Taliban simply because of Geo-political interests. Their zeal to counter any perceived Indian regional influence. Blinded them to the atrocities the Taliban were carrying out. They recognized and supported the Taliban. Now after fighting the Taliban in their own country they are starting to see there really is no difference between the Pakistan and Afghan Taliban. They both work together and commit great acts of barbarism against mostly the average civilian.

You notice that compared to a year ago you don't see people referring to the Afghan Taliban as good. I wonder why? still there are a few holdouts that still cling to the Afghan Taliban as being good. Even if they don't publicly say it. You can see it from what they post. They have let hate corrupt them.

Thats the same reason why America hates them. Otherwise they don't bite Americans as you are trying to portray. They had nothing to do with Alqaida, they had nothing to do with World Trade Centre and they have nothing to do in any sort of terrorism inside or outside America. They are proud defenders of their country and they are fighting to defeat the invaders.

Its actually funny the way you try to portray America. I wonder do you really believe it is as good country on earth as you like to describe it.
