U.S. Decides to Retaliate Against China’s Hacking

If we did retaliate, they wouldn't know the true extent of the attack. Below is just one example.

From :
Equation Group: The Crown Creator of Cyber-Espionage | Kaspersky Lab
Cyber Firm: The NSA Is Out-Hacking the Chinese and the Russians - Defense One

"On Sunday, Kaspersky Lab, a research firm headquartered in Moscow, published an analysis implying the “Equation Group” is the same entity behind the so-called Stuxnet worm. That malware is believed to be a joint NSA-Israeli invention that sabotaged Iran’s nuclear centrifuges in 2009 or 2010.

Code developed by the possibly-20-year-old group can reprogram popular hard drives in a way that is virtually impossible for almost any person or machine to see. While surveying an Islamic Jihadist discussion forum, the team took pains to infect only specific targets by checking their usernames and network addresses, according to the new analysis."

" WHAT MAKES THE EQUATION GROUP UNIQUE?

Ultimate persistence and invisibility

GReAT has been able to recover two modules which allow reprogramming of the hard drive firmware of more than a dozen of the popular HDD brands. This is perhaps the most powerful tool in the Equation group’s arsenal and the first known malware capable of infecting the hard drives.

By reprogramming the hard drive firmware (i.e. rewriting the hard drive’s operating system), the group achieves two purposes:

  1. An extreme level of persistence that helps to survive disk formatting and OS reinstallation. If the malware gets into the firmware, it is available to “resurrect” itself forever. It may prevent the deletion of a certain disk sector or substitute it with a malicious one during system boot.
“Another dangerous thing is that once the hard drive gets infected with this malicious payload, it is impossible to scan its firmware. To put it simply: for most hard drives there are functions to write into the hardware firmware area, but there are no functions to read it back. It means that we are practically blind, and cannot detect hard drives that have been infected by this malware” – warns Costin Raiu, Director of the Global Research and Analysis Team at Kaspersky Lab.
  2. The ability to create an invisible, persistent area hidden inside the hard drive. It is used to save exfiltrated information which can be later retrieved by the attackers. Also, in some cases it may help the group to crack the encryption: “Taking into account the fact that their GrayFish implant is active from the very boot of the system, they have the ability to capture the encryption password and save it into this hidden area,” explains Costin Raiu."

What China's Internet infrastructure was like in the 90's is irrelevant. The point is that the NSA has successfully and consistently been able to hack your networks over the course of 15 years. For more info here is the link.

Thanks for acknowledging China is also the victim,in fact China is the number one target of NSA hacking, followed by Germany and Russia, and did you hear China whining about it?

That brings back what I said in the first place: Quit whining and Up your game,if the US hacking team is as good as you say, wouldn‘t they secretly settled the score already? Instead the US govt chose to point fingers with no proof and start a smear campaign, some people might think that’s a sign of weakness.

If the US really want to openly blame China, it need to make it more convincing than the Iraqi WMD. So far it has not yet come up with stories like those of aluminum tubes and yellow cake.

.
What exactly is the Chinese government's demands? LOL, do you think you are in a "position" to make demands??? South China sea isn't the entire globe and your core focus will be that area plus the Indian ocean :enjoy: :victory1:

Chinese government has responded to US accusations to be groundless, son! You sound like an Indian. Are you Indian American?

So your proud that China steals others hard earned work? How would you feel if someone stole years of research and development work that you have done and then presented it as their own? No wonder the Chinese have a reputation as a country that can't innovate.

Nothing is fair in this world. If China can save money and time and get the technology to make China a stronger nation, that's to China's benefit and that's a problem for China's enemies.

You do anything to win. Losers believe in things like luck, fairness, equality, etc.

The strong shall survive and the weak shall die.

did people really miss this bombshell?

If you really thought that the NSA wasn't spying on China all along, then I don't know what to tell you. The reason the US continues to "point fingers" at China is due to the amount of economic espionage the Chinese government is involved in. According to the FBI Director, China is involved in 95% of economic espionage cases in the US. Why do you think we don't call out the Russians more often, even though they are listed as a greater cyber threat than China? Because they aren't stealing our companies intellectual property on the scale China is. The CCP and the Chinese companies who are using our stolen IP are essentially frauds.

No one's bragging. Our guys are much ahead and MATURE than your people. So whatever response is giving, it won't be as low life and cheap as disclosing ordinary citizen's details online. In fact, the response would be of strategic importance :enjoy:

This guy really thinks the CCP took his credit card info and disclosed it to a third party in the United States.

Is anyone shocked that the US is regarded as a nation of children?

One of the main reasons why the US has become so powerful is due to decades of research and development that has advanced our scientific and technological base. This advancement has come from the hard work of our scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, and innovators. Countries that have to rely on stolen IP are telling the world they lack the drive, ambition, creativity, and innovative capability to advance as a nation. As I said above, you are frauds. I have no respect for nation's that rely on the stolen work of others. While China relies on stolen R&D, the US will continue to be at the forefront of scientific and technological innovation.

You're a fucking joke. Without stealing China's inventions, you would be in the stone age. Keep me posted on which of your weapons use no black powder.

China is in the top ranks in terms of quality patents and papers being written, even with a lot of fluff. Not to mention you whites aren't even responsible for half of the "innovation" in your countries.

When you have to resort to cursing and racist remarks, you've already lost the debate. Your credibility just plummeted...

Squeal some more. You owe everything to us. Look at the researchers in your country, tell me what race a quarter of them are?

lol, and you have the nerve to call 1.3 billion people frauds and then whine about racism when you know **** at all about technology and what it takes to develop it.

So you're justifying intellectual theft? Goodness, where is the mores and ethos, my Han-some friend?

Whose calling all Chinese frauds? I'm referring to the Chinese government and the jackals that steal from us, and the Chinese companies that acquire the IP. I was never referring to all Chinese. There are plenty of Chinese that have contributed to the advancement of the US. I've interacted with several.

Based on your posts on this forum you seem like an angry/frustrated individual. Go relax...

This is a tricky debate my friend, there is a very fine line b/w rewarding research and innovation through grant of patents and using these patents to impose your will on others.

Case in point is Big Pharma, whole of developed world is up in arms against India because for the lack of better word India steals their R&D and makes generic drugs which are in some cases 100 times cheaper and save lives of millions of poor people.

Now if you go deeper then there is a concept of evergreening of patents where small tweaks in formula allows pharma companies to keep filing for new patents far past their expiry date and in essence allows them to keep denying cheap medicines to poor.

I agree, Pharma is just one case and the same may not apply equally across the spectrum but still I would insist that there is need for informed discussion. Poor countries can't afford R & D like US, Europe and Japan as their focus is rightly more on fields like primary education, basic health care and infrastructure but this does not give their wealthier counterparts free license to restrict technology or use it as a bargaining chip.

Ultimately such a policy breeds envy, discontent and ultimately we resort to tools like hacking.

I hope you would consider my arguments with an open mind.

I justify an eye for an eye. If the sole superpower will come clean and admit its transgressions, it will be far easier to make some sort of arrangement.

Keep in mind, China purchases most of its technology. If they steal much civilian tech, I've not heard of it.

Who tells you they "rely" on stolen IP? Are you aware of how much Chinese entities pay for your old IP?
