Zte is finished. It’s almost too impossible to replace US chips even if China spends the entire $3 trillion forex on developing domestic chips. That will take decades. Worse, the US forbids to sell Android OS to the Chinese company. It’s easier to develop nuclear aircraft carrier than developing chips and OS for smartphone. The entire Chinese smartphone industry could crash along with Zte. Luckily I don’t possess any phone maker Chinese stocks
That's in Viet dream, in contrary this will only make ZTE and Chinese telecommunication even more stronger in the future, soon or later China will have to develop their own chips for civilian market and military, short pain is better than long suffering, if China want to compete and overtake US in high tech market, it has to develop it own chip, 10 years, 20 years...it will have to do...we are not looking for short term profit but a long term strategy.
US's embargo is just a good opportunity for China to build our Chip industries and force ZTE and other to support Chinese chip industries, crisis is always opportunity for China.
