alright to get back on track. what's the best spot to attack a missile,rocket,mortar,drone w/e with a laser.

one would think the warhead
but wouldn't it be easier and faster to attack the tail area?

what are you talking about it takes out Grad type rockets and mortars as well

scale it up to a few 100KW on a warship it'll be shooting down anti ship missiles and possibly ballistic missiles.

I wonder why you don't test this system in israel , where it's most needed , laser is certainly more potent than say david's sling or flares

david's sling or stunner is for larger rockets that are too high and far for a laser to hit, like a scud.

Most WMD are actually kind of tricky re:detonation/deployment. A nuclear weapon needs a precise detonation - the various pieces of U235/plutonium must go from non-critical masses to a single critical mass very fast - or you get fizzle. You are essentially turning a well-constructed bomb into a not-so-well-constructed bomb, perhaps disabling it altogether.

Chemical weapons that detonate early will cover the wrong area, or again, fail to deploy properly (catch fire, or hit the ground and create an inefficient killing puddle). Similar problems can occur with bio weapons.

Against civilian targets, you're still going to have damage, but military targets are often hardened/protected/prepared.

If it were that easy to get them to work, more people would have them.

Sure it can destroy the warheads. Done it many years ago. But the system was too big at the time. Now its more mobile and in smaller package.

Higher density light stimulated emissions up to 1000 of watts can actually take out all Ballistic missiles in your inventory. More power and range added to this compact system would take out your boats and jets too. And I don't know if you ignored the video, it does take out targets from rockets, to drones to pretty much all kinds of warheads.
As this system expands, I see it becoming more standard against incoming air-born objects of all kinds. I won't be surprised if this system evolves into something like Standard Laser I and II (I for short range and II for higher altitude and long range interception). This might become an excellent complimentary system to the Standard Missile system.

by this decade we can see fighter jets using lasers instead of cannons in very close combat flight...it can also be used to shoot down BVRAAM. that will be awesome.
