U don't want 'Korea War' in ur home, even more China as ur Enemy

During 1945 , after Vietnam declared the independence with help of US personnel
President Truman should appreciate the letters from President Ho Chi Minh to express the will to cooperate.
and response with positive view. But he didn't.

The letter

Letter to President Harry Truman, February 16, 1946. The letter was never answered and was not declassified until 1972

DEAR MR. PRESIDENT:

Our VIETNAM people, as early as 1941, stood by the Allies' side and fought against the Japanese and their associates, the French colonialists.

From 1941 to 1945 we fought bitterly, sustained by the patriotism, of our fellow-countrymen and by the promises made by the Allies at YALTA, SAN FRANCISCO and POTSDAM.

When the Japanese were defeated in August 1945, the whole Vietnam territory was united under a Provisional Republican Government, which immediately set out to work. In five months, peace and order were restored, a democratic republic was established on legal bases, and adequate help was given to the Allies in the carrying out of their disarmament mission.

But the French Colonialists, who betrayed in wartime both the Allies and the Vietnamese, have come back, and are waging on us a murderous and pitiless war in order reestablish their domination. Their invasion has extended to South Vietnam and is menacing us in North Vietnam. It would take volumes to give even an abbreviated report of the crisis and assassinations they are committing everyday in this fighting area.

This aggression is contrary to all principles of international law and the pledge made by the Allies during World War II. It is a challenge to the noble attitude shown before, during, and after the war by the United States Government and People. It violently contrasts with the firm stand you have taken in your twelve point declaration, and with the idealistic loftiness and generosity expressed by your delegates to the United Nations Assembly, MM. BYRNES, STETTINIUS, AND J.F. DULLES.

The French aggression on a peace-loving people is a direct menace to world security. It implies the complicity, or at least the connivance of the Great Democracies. The United Nations ought to keep their words. They ought to interfere to stop this unjust war, and to show that they mean to carry out in peacetime the principles for which they fought in wartime.

Our Vietnamese people, after so many years of spoliation and devastation, is just beginning its building-up work. It needs security and freedom, first to achieve internal prosperity and welfare, and later to bring its small contribution to world-reconstruction.

These security and freedom can only be guaranteed by our independence from any colonial power, and our free cooperation with all other powers. It is with this firm conviction that we request of the United Sates as guardians and champions of World Justice to take a decisive step in support of our independence.

What we ask has been graciously granted to the Philippines. Like the Philippines our goal is full independence and full cooperation with the UNITED STATES. We will do our best to make this independence and cooperation profitable to the whole world.

I am Dear Mr. PRESIDENT,

Respectfully Yours,

(Signed) Ho Chi Minh

The United States should have seized the initiative and invested political capital in supporting the Viet Minh instead of the French. Afterall, why support the French in Indochina? The French Colonial Forces were defeated by the Imperial Japanese Army in literally less than 6 days. Thy collapsed so easily. At least the British fought gallantly in Singapore and Malaya, as did the Americans in the Philippines. French control of Indochina was lost since 1941.

LOL, did 胡志明 really ask for that? o_O

It's hilarious that the Americans turned him down though.

In Chinese media, the performance of Turkish Brigade in Korea War was a joke. Their commanders had language difficulty in communication with the US army command. The first time they were sent to the front they were smashed by Chinese. Since then the brigade never engaged any action as a whole unit.

The most funny story is that they exhibited a Chinese nationalist's flag as their plunder from Korean war.

From my readings, the Turkish soldier fought with valor and distinction in the Korean War. They were brutally effective against the Norkors.

The biggest mistake is Japan period. Had Japan not waged war in Asia, the region would not had to suffer. Had Japan not attempted to invade Korea in the past and against the big brother relations today would be very warm among our East Asians.
There would not be a divided Korea as well, which is a result of a political fight between USA and USSR. Japan itself would have a true independent foreign policy and the Okinawans would not have to suffer crimes committed by the US such as rape and storing Agent Orange on that island.

There's hope yet, and that is China. As an economic and military powerhouse we shall lead the region to development. Our sphere of influence will continue to grow as we gather more muscle strength. For thousands of years China has been the center of this region, rich, powerful and rewarding our tribute neighbors for their peaceful coexistence with China. This was however disrupted by foreign powers, the region became colonies of Western countries. Now the mighty dragon has arisen, those who defy us will suffer just as Abe's foolish foreign policy towards China.

China has sacrificed a lot for the Koreans in the past defending them against Japanese invasions and during the Korean War.
They maybe ingrates just like our southern neighbor but when the US tried to bomb NK because of the nuclear test China was the one who prevented another Korean War after news spread quickly of the PLA deployment near the border and Xi warning not to cause trouble at our doorstep. Now that's what i call hard power and a diplomatic solution to a peaceful region.

Ancient Japanese were similar to the vikings or pirates: harsh living environment and not self efficient. The best way for poor islanders to make livings was to rub and take things from others. They could never do anything good to its neighbors.

Well Japan is an isolated island afterall, tsunami/earthquake sure makes life tough.

You guys celebrate Thanksgiving?

I don't even know what day that would be on. I wouldn't mind eating some Turkey though.

I do not believe in celebrating a holiday with origins in racism and treachery. I only bring it up because it is a holiday that his country's boss celebrate.

Current Vietnam and US president agree to continue the deal started in 1945 ( 69 years ago ).
Before 1949, Vietnam ever get the support from OSS ( laterly known as CIA ) training during WW2, and cooperate well with Allies side.

The Independence declaration of Vietnam refered to US version ...
At the time, Vietnam get very less support from China and Soviet Union. Actually Ho Chi Minh is a nationalism, and he believed in the cooperation with USA.

Below quoted from Vietnam Independence declaration.
All men are created equal. They are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, among them are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness."

This immortal statement was made in the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America in 1776. In a broader sense, this means: All the peoples on the earth are equal from birth, all the peoples have a right to live, to be happy and free.

The Declaration of the French Revolution made in 1791 on the Rights of Man and the Citizen also states: “All men are born free and with equal rights, and must always remain free and have equal rights.”

Those are undeniable truths.

The South Korean army was running by a bunch of green bugs, they have suffered much higher casualties than the US army.

The US army itself has lost more than 60000 men, so I have highly doubted over these Korean sources.

Since the memorial site in the UN has proven otherwise.

as SK used young conscripts, they suffered more.Sk didn't have proper military, whatever they had was already depleted.their new conscripts didn't have proper training or equipment.plus, they neither had any heavy weapons, nor rockets to destroy tanks and armored cars.only after USA provided them some super bazookas, they got the chance to fight against NK..

second, your pride for PLA is false.first, for a good part of war,its NK all alone who fought with UN.China,as a part of UN security Council shouldn't even oppose UN backed troops in the first place.its one of the most dark chapters of UN history.any Country would've skip this part to avoid discomfort, but not you guys.why should you guys??your all powerful PLA beat back UN troops consisted US soldiers..
