Please, the EFT has lost out to the Rafale in every open completion
@Luftwaffe the IN never operated the AV-8, their Harriers were BAE Systems Sea Harriers. And the IN's Sea Harriers are being replaced by the MIG-29K/KUB in IN service.
Rafale has lost to every other competition.
To date, the Rafale has lost export opportunities in Algeria (SU-30MKA, Rafale was a longshot), Greece (Eurofighter, then F-16), Morocco (F-16C/D), The Netherlands (F-35A or JAS-39NG), Norway (F-35A), Oman (Eurofighter, not final and Rafale was a longshot), Saudi Arabia (Eurofighter), Singapore (F-15SG), South Korea (F-15K), Switzerland (JAS-39E), and the UAE (F-16E/F, but could win next competition).
Regardless Harrier has been operated currently in deplorable state with IN.
Like I said, the Rafale has lost out due to political and fincail pressures/considerations by certain nations.

Actually this competition give us more they are offering then. Diversifying our weapons is a priority.Somebody in India loves playing contract contract. You guys should stick to Russian firms.

rashtriya.rifles, I do Agree currently Rafale has A2G advantage, which EFT will cover eventually but not 100% and not so soon. The Tranche3A upgrade means lighter strong Airframe apart from over all Avionics.
There are as many 37+32/36 of Jaguars with alot of life left in them that were manufactured by HAL between 94-2002. Rest of Jaguars and Mig-27s were upgraded but would be the right choice to be replaced by Rafale those extra 63 you people are hearing over the top of 126 Rafale is very possible and makes sense.
- Number of Jaguars used as Antiship Naval Role
- 45 of Mig-29s on order would be used in Naval Role
- Number? of LCA II would be used in Naval Role [replaced of AV-8 Harriers]
- Mirage 2000 Ground Attack
- Mig-27 Ground Attack
- Rafale Ground Attack+ A2A
