Two Tripura rivers to be linked with Bangladesh's Meghna

@Rain Man don't post links from some random websites, Indian government doesn't publish state incomes in dollars, they are always in Indian Rupees, here is the accurate figures of per capita incomes of Indian states:

Per Capita income of Indian States/UTs

West Bengal's per capita income in 2014-15 is Rs 78,903, equivalent to USD$1187.40 in 2014 rates.

Bangladesh's per capita income in 2014 is USD$1314.
Bangladesh’s per capita income rises to $1,314 -
bdnews24.com

Both the figures are from the respective national statistical departments, so there should be no doubt.

.
Can we stop this Bangladesh vs West Bengal nonsense? I personally want to see both BD and West Bengal prosper. I like to see West Bengal to regain its once preeminent position among the Indian states. This thread is about river, Tripura water etc. how it became us vs them thread?

Check the first page for answer. :)

Kid, already answered, I repeat: "Check the 2nd link, the USD figures are already given there, you just cannot pick one data calculated at one exchange rate and apply a different rate on it, that's not the way economics work, you have to make the entire calculation on the new rate then..there is a reason why economists take a 'constant' date." Here is the link: GDP per capita of Indian States | Indian states GDP per capita 2015 - StatisticsTimes.com

In short, you CANNOT apply a Y dates conversion rate on figures based on X dates conversion rates, you have to do the whole calculation from the beginning with Y date's rates in that case, that INR value you are seeing was itself calculated at a different rate. And in this world in this day every damn economic data is calculated on USD, can't help it. Now grow up and learn it from someone who knows, you cannot learn everything about economics from Wikipedia.

West Bengal cannot prosper while it is in the Indian Union.

Look how far it keeps going backwards while BD keeps pushing forwards - the difference in GDP/capita will become so great in 2-3 decades that West Bengalis will try to migrate in huge numbers to BD.

Eita ekdom 100% khati kotha.

1. Working class West Bengalis have gathered a bad reputation all over India as lazy which may be unfounded.
2. Other than Backoffice work and some shipbuilding, I don't see any significant Indian private sector investment by majors in WB. Industrially WB is a backward state in India at this time.
3. Work ethic in WB leaves a lot to be desired. Communist mindset as perceived by rest of India.
4. Mamata-di is not industry or investment friendly. Witness Tata/Singoor.
5. Most Indians have no clue about how different WB and Bangladesh really are. Its Capitalist vs. Communist.

Of course I wish the best for WB's future uplift and development. And I could be totally off target. But these are my impressions.

If this state of affairs continues then eventually Bangladesh will need to open its doors to WB talent and to provide them jobs. With Padma Bridge in operation, Dhaka-Kolkata drive could be around say five to six hours (or even less).

Exactly...

Just to give you a reality check about the technology gap between West Bengal and Bangladesh, a friend of mine returned from Bangladesh last week after his project of commissioning BSRM steel Mills Ltd, Water Treatment System. Ever heard of Bangladeshi engineers commissioning anything anywhere? :)

You keep harping on the same sad tune, trying to diss Bangladeshis and/or their achievements. It is getting pretty tiring for the rest of us.

I can understand the reason for your personal vendetta being uprooted from Bangladesh and all - but you have to realize it wasn't anyone's individual fault here. Loads of people got uprooted from India and now live in Bangladesh.

Even if you try for a thousand years, you cannot convince us Bangladeshis that our country is worse off than West Bengal. We have eyes. We are all happy with WB achievement - why can't you be happy with ours??

It is a silly concept - this d*ck measuring you (and your 'gang of three') are obsessed with. Hours upon hours, day after day, same old thing. You guys need some help, some therapy.
  • Bangladeshi engineers from BUET commission things (in fact massive nuclear powerplants) out here in the US, side by side with Indians and Pakistanis. They work on fundamental research at JPL, Caltech and MIT.
  • What reason is there to compete with WB talent commissioning water treatment plants? I personally don't have any issue with WB talent working in Bangladesh. But insisting that we cannot survive without them and we have a dearth of talent is hilarious and laughable.
  • Bangladeshi engineers can and have SET UP and RUN whole power generation plants and industrial plants of many kinds since the early 1900's (the same time Kolkata started them). What logic dictates they can't? Just because we eat beef our IQ came down a couple of notches?
Bhai tomar mathai shotti gondogol asey. Psychiatrist dekhao.

Again crying victim after silly trolling from page one, so typical. :)

You have no valid argument - just these impotent one-liners.

I am the lone one that took pity on you and am trying to reason with you. No other Bangladeshi here really cares one whit. :-)

Check the previous pages, it shows a different picture. :-)

Oh man rain man, you are too much for the dimwits. Let it pass man, let them live the fantasy...you enjoy being the rude wake up call huh?

That part where one implied wealth and GDP are equivalent. :p:

We should get back to topic.

Has this news made any headlines in Bangladesh and are there any opinion pieces on it?
