Best of luck then. But you must actually build up a navy to something appreciable before you can call it "Armada".

Otherwise its just another desperate title that is quite hollow.

Will BD submarine officers be trained in any NATO perisher courses? British and Dutch ones are the two best.

I wouldn't have called it an 'Armada'...but, the local papers are excited and I was told there is a 'no thread title change' policy on PDF.

Truth be told our Navy in terms of 'hardware' is light years behind where we need to be. It probably requires billions in investment over the next decade (I'd say it needs to be prioritized over the other forces).

Depending on BN's experience with these two, we should go for the Yuan class in a year or two...

Do not please shame the Burmese by talking about their body size. Jungle dwellers are usually short-featured. Burma has no modern roads even in Rangoon. All roads end at a Pagoda. Passengers have to walk through the Pagoda to ride another bus at the other side. Burma is so underdeveloped!!

  The submarines, christened ‘Nabajatra’ and ‘Joyjatra’, will be included in the Bangladesh Navy's fleet once they arrive.

Chinese Rear Admiral Liu Zizhu handed the submarines over to Bangladesh Navy chief Admiral Nizamuddin Ahmed at a ceremony at a shipyard in Dalian city in China's Liaoning province on Monday, the Inter Services Public Relations Directorate said in a statement.

The first submarines made for Bangladesh are each 76 metres long and 7.6 metres wide. The type 035G diesel electric submarines, armed with torpedoes and mines, are able to attack enemy ships and submarines, the ISPR said in its statement.

A 'sea trial' was successfully held following the training of navy officers and mariners to bring the submarines to Bangladesh, it said.

The ISPR hoped the submarines would reach Bangladesh soon and join the Navy's fleet at the beginning of next year.

Admiral Nizamuddin said at the program that the Bangladesh Navy had commenced its journey as a 'three-dimensional' force after acquiring the two submarines. He also praised the Chinese Navy for furbishing the submarines and training the crew.
