What's new

Two military posts in Bajaur, KPK, on Pakistan-Afghanistan border have been hit in an attack by Taliban border militia

.
They are angry after the Afghan team lost all 3 ODIs.

The Afgans must fight one another, or die.....

You must fight the Afgans, or die...
My neibourhood has been swamped by Afghans. It is a common sight to see the Afghan flag and colours on clothing garments and car stickers.

.
What is the economic significance of these border areas to Pakistan ? Isn't it better for them to be independent ? The Lahore Resolution anyway called for the creation of independent and sovereign states . Why force them into a unitary structure ?

No one is forcing Afghans into anything.

They are mad they lost 3 times in a row in the ODI series.

That’s what USA, India and Afghanistan wants.

FC won’t be handed drones - that’s the irony.

GHQ's counter-terrorism policy seems too reactionary, it needs to be more proactive and do more beforehand rather than waiting for things to heat up

Doesn't seem like GHQ takes tackling separatism and counter-terrorism seriously enough - even though it has a huge negative impact on FDI, tourism, development and keeps things unstable

Honestly Pakistan's economy and situation would be far better today if the insurgency threat was fully eradicated.

That’s what USA, India and Afghanista

I agree on Afghanistan. USA doesnt want another independent Islamic emirate . It just wants Pakistan to crush the Islamists. India would also prefer to see Pakistan keep bleeding in a low intensity conflict rather than the matter be settled.

Regulars are called in for Ops where FC is assigned other duties otherwise CT is now primarily the domain of SF, FC and police CTD.

In this particular case, FC has the freedom to retaliate in the way it deems necessary. Personally I feel that FC should start a massive operation on its own with or without PA’s regulars since PA has trained and provided FC with necessary training and equipment. PA shifts back to conventional warfare and it’s focus is now on CPEC security in the region since a conventional war with Afghanistan or Iran is unlikely.

The divide is that Pakistan is not listening to USA and USA is not providing equipment to Pakistan.

Pakistan has tilted towards China for multiple reasons.

There are two ways to eradicate the insurgency. One is to try to crush it through violence just like in Operation Search Light. The other is to give the TTP what they want.

TTP shouldn't be given what it wants. You don't negotiate with terrorists. It's about the national interests.

Sometimes violence and force is the only answer for some things

After crushing Al Qaeda, the US no longer has pressing geostrategic interests in AfPak. Its limited resources are focussed on containing China and Russia.

Unlike the US, China doesnt provide provide billions of dollars in free aid. It might provide some soft loans for projects executed by Chinese companies, but, on the whole, the relationship is carried out on a commercial basis.

Then the country has to be prepared to pay the price to protect the so-called national interest. And violence and force is not guarranteed to work. Look at what happened in East Pakistan.
