NEW DELHI: Two army jawans were martyred and four terrorists were killed in a gunbattle between security forces and terrorists in Kulgam in south Kashmir on Sunday.

Acting on a tip-off by police about the presence of a large number of terrorists, army cordoned off Frisal village in Kulgam , 60 km from Srinagar. An encounter is currently underway. As per reports, the terrorists were hiding inside a house in the area.

As the forces neared the house, the terrorists hiding within opened fire on them, leading to a gunfight which lasted several hours. Four terrorists were killed in the ensuing exchange of fire.

Five soldiers were also injured and two of them succumbed to their injuries before they could be evacuated for treatment. Three jawans were airlifted to Army's 92 base hospital in Srinagar and their condition was stated to be stable.Three other terrorists, believed to be severely injured during the gunfight, managed to escape. Hunt is on to nab them, sources said.


Bodies of two terrorists have so far been recovered by security personnel.
Four weapons have also been recovered from the scene of the gunbattle and security forces are trying to ascertain the identity and group affiliation of the slain terrorists, a police official said.

Four militants and two army jawans were today killed in a fierce encounter in Kulgam district of south Kashmir, officials said here.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Frisal area of Kulgam district in the wee hours following information about presence of a large number of militants in the area, a police official said.
He said as the security forces were closing in on the position of the militants, the ultras opened firing resulting in injuries to five soldiers.
Two soldiers succumbed to injuries before they could be evacuated for treatment, the official said adding three jawans were airlifted to Army's 92 base hospital here and their condition was stated to be stable.
The security forces returned fire, ensuing in a fierce gunbattle that lasted several hours in which four terrorists were killed, he added.
The search operations was still in progress as security forces suspect that some militants might have managed to escape to nearby areas, the official said.

Fighters need more training and better tactics to hit hard with less casualty. This 4 for 2 ,should be 2 for 4/5.

The problem is if the intel is weak like 'terrorists somewhere in this village' then literally the forces have to get ambushed to pinpoint the location of these terrorists. If the intel is specific like 'terrorists in this house in this village' then the forces can just blow up the house and incur zero loses

Read again clearly he wants more Indian soldiers martyred.

They can wear lungis we will ask our soldiers to let them go.

This is full fledge home grown insurgency they dont have traning camps other wise if they have support just like TTP, BLA have indian support they would have been jumping up and down.
its time for Pakistan to support Kashmiries fully. cuz india have done everything and still are. keep them busy in East and west.
