Two girls take down harasser on Karachi's Tariq Road

I thought sexual harassment does not happen in pakistan... is it fake news from liberal media again?
It happens everywhere in this World.Even in highly educated developed world. You will be able to save yourself from this evil if you are living on Mars. But believe me we did not rape foreign tourists and we are not having something called"Rape Capital"

- A tad bit stupid, but something you can expect from a 15 year old. Screaming for help will usually get you the requisite support from the onlookers, and various social experiments show that people, especially other men interfere when someone is abusing or harassing females. However, when your "running behind that guy", you might expose yourself to variables that you didn't account for before you made a dash based off pure anger. The safety of an individual should be priority number one.

-With that said, I know there are many schools that have programs of Taikwando etc. such programs should be encouraged and more common place so that people can defend themselves.

-Thirdly, I see many people applauding these girls ... to which I say, vigilantism should not be applauded. The system should be made more effective and efficient to take care of such things.

You mean like in Bangalore? Two sides of the same coin?

Any type of self defense style is okay using which you can DEFEND yourself and disengage from a situation where one's life is in danger. Here I see many posters getting all hyped up about how "she taught him a lesson" .

That approach although very satisfying, (when the outcome is like the one in this story) should not be glorified like it is being on this thread. Yes the accused (if he did what he's accused of) is a scumbag and had it coming. However, criminals are dangerous, and the first approach should be one of avoiding them. Therefore, while you can't actually criticize such behavior from that girl, however, glorifying it may lead to some unfortunate incidents in the future.

Agree 100%, people in Pakistan are timid but that kind of crap in any other street might end up getting you stabbed or worse!

Illegal in Pakistan, requires a good degree of training before use, can fail, requires regular maintenance and calibration. Is a less than lethal, not a NON lethal option. Pepper spray would be more suitable.

How is it illegal when you can buy it for only 3k pkr?

Pepper spray might be good against multiple assailants.

Just because you can buy it doesn't make it legal to use. Try explaining it's possession to a police officer in this present climate. Also the picture you have shown is of a stun gun and not a taser, two different types of equipment.

It happens everywhere.. India is unique in the sense that in other countries, 30 people beat the molester, while in India 30 people (including woman's husband) watch her getting beaten. Some even record a video and post it on youtube to collect sympathies for the victim.

Using pepper spray on the perpetrator is better way to respond, pepper spray can absolutely stun for a good few minutes and it is easy to carry
