2 girls gunned down in Kashmir

Srinagar, India (CNN) -- Authorities were searching Tuesday for suspects who gunned down two teenage sisters in a north Kashmir town.
The sisters, ages 19 and 17, were killed in the town of Sopore, in what police called the first killing by militants this year after a violent summer of clashes.
The protracted summer unrest last year claimed 110 lives and left hundreds others wounded.
The young girls were marched out of their home by gunpoint Monday night, police said.
"The militants later shot them in cold blood," Sopore police chief Altaf Khan said, "The bodies of the slain sisters were found some distance away from their home. A manhunt has been launched to nab the murderers, two of whom we have already identified."
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the killing.

Now go ahead, declare this as Indian propaganda too.

Coming to the incident, it's very tragic and my heartfelt condolences to the victims and their families, may the lord god grant them eternal peace, may he give the families of the deceased comfort and strength and on the day of judgement may he smite down those responsible into the pitt of hell fire.

Amen.

Sajjad Lone defends separatists silence over killing of Kashmiri girls

The Chairman of the Kashmir-based People's Conference, Sajjad Lone, has refused to directly comment on the silence of separatists with regard to the killing of two young Kashmiri girls allegedly by the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Toiba in Sopore on Monday.

He termed the killing of girls as dastardly and cowardly, but said: "I can speak for myself. I would put my condemnation on record that it is a dastardly act, a cowardly act and it is reprehensible. I share utter contempt for such acts of violence and my condolence is with the family of the deceased. I can understand what must be going on in that family".

Surprisingly, in the same breath, Lone made an odious comparison.

He said: "We had 120 kids killed last year during street protests. There was a similar muted response from your leaders (read Indian leadership)". So, I think it's the same."

"It's very wrong to equate killings, A killing is a killing, a murder, and, we need to condemn all such killings, taking a political color out of it," he added.

Separatists, including both factions of the Hurriyat and the JKLF last year led the four-month-long street protests characterized by stone pelting. More than 120 Kashmiri youth were killed in the bloody street battles with security forces. The agitation led to an estimated loss of over 10,000 crore rupees to the exchequer.

However, the separatists have chosen to remain mum on the killing of the two sisters in Sopore.

Taking on the separatists over their silence on the killing, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said: "Full details about the Sopore incident has yet not come, but it's quite sad that no condemnation of this killing by militants is coming out. If there was any whiff or suggestion that security forces had killed civilians, then the entire valley would have been up in flames."

Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorists allegedly killed the two sisters after dragging them out of their house in Sopore in North Kashmir. Seventeen-year-old Arifa and 20-year-old Akhtar were gunned down by three terrorists.

Talking to ANI, Lone said: "Most of the separatists are out of the valley this time. Mirwaiz is out, Yasin is out. I don't think anyone of them is condoning these acts of violence."

ANI has learnt that Yasin Malik is currently staying at Sajjad's residence located on the outskirts of Delhi and is avoiding speaking to the media. By Naveen Kapoor (ANI)

Dont speak out separatists - otherwise you will meet up with the same fate as Mirwaiz Farooq,Abdul Gani Lone and Abdul Ahad Wani - Bullets in your body.

Two sisters shot dead in Kashmir | DAWN.COM | Latest news, Breaking news, Pakistan News, World news, business, sport and multimedia

SRINAGAR: Suspected militants shot dead two sisters in Indian-administered Kashmir, police said Tuesday.
The two women were killed in Sopore town, 55 kilometres north of Srinagar, senior police officer Altaf Ahmad told AFP, adding that the motive was unclear.

“Two Lashkar-i-Taiba (LT) militants barged into the house of Ghulam Nabi Dar late Monday night and dragged his two daughters, Akhtar and Arifa, out of their house before gunning them down,” the officer said.

Chief Minister of the region, Omar Abdullah, condemned the murders, saying the sisters were 19 and 17.

The LT has not claimed responsibility for the murders.

Militant groups are known to kill people suspected of being police informers, while security forces have been accused by human rights groups of extrajudicial killings and acting with impunity.

The deaths took the total number of people killed in insurgency-related violence in the region to six in January — the lowest monthly death toll recorded in two decades, according to police figures.

The four others killed in January included two suspected militants shot by security forces and two soldiers.

According to official police records, killings dropped to an all-time low last year, from 10 daily in 2001 and a peak of 13 a day in 1996 when the insurgency was at its height with daily bomb attacks and gunbattles.

A total of 375 insurgency-related deaths were recorded in 2010, the same as 2009 when the figures were the lowest for any single year since the start of the insurgency in 1989.

However, the figures do not include the fatal casualties of massive anti-India protests that rocked Kashmir for the third successive summer.

An estimated 117 people were killed, most of them shot by police and paramilitary forces, during the demonstrations against Indian rule in the Muslim-majority Himalayan region.

So an Indian officer is saying that Lashkar was involved? Did Lashkar accept the responsibility yet?

So an Indian officer is saying that Lashkar was involved? Did Lashkar accept the responsibility yet?

Lashkar has never accepted responsibility of any attacks on civilians. They are a terrorist organisation, not accountable to anyone.

The silence of separatist leaders, the lack of any protests there is a good indication who is responsible.

.
So an Indian officer is saying that Lashkar was involved? Did Lashkar accept the responsibility yet?

As far as I know Lashkar don't accept responsibilities. Did they accepted in in 26/11, Parliament attack ?

Moreover moral for attack is that father is working in govt. office.

.
So an Indian officer is saying that Lashkar was involved? Did Lashkar accept the responsibility yet?

When do supposed 'Freedom fighters' take responsibility for such heinous crimes ?? And yes Sir, it is an Indian officer is confirming because this is Indian territory. I suppose for the killings done by TTP in Pakistan, the Pakistani officers only confirm.Same here.

Also the interview of Sajjad Lone, a top ranking separatist leader and the fact the other Separatist leaders have not reacted, there are no protests,no stone pelting confirms this is indeed the handiwork of freedom fighters.
