Two ethnic Indians jailed for murder in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Two ethnic Indian men have been jailed by a Malaysian court for the murder of a Nigerian student who they claimed had cheated them.


High court judge Noor Azian Shaari sentenced security guards V Ganesan, 29, and T Kumar, also 29, to one-year and seven-year jail terms for causing the death of 27-year-old Nwabudike Emmanuel Chukwuma.

They pleaded guilty to committing the offence in April last year.

The judge in her ruling said Ganesan and Kumar did not have the right to take the victim's life even if he had cheated them.

Yeah, giving one guy a year and the other 7 years for murder does seem light. Malaysia judicial system should have pursued capital punishment in the murder case.
