If you re firing dummies, India will still counter attack and hence the first kill will be for Indians. India will retaliate with equal or greater strength to what ever number of dummies or live weaponry.

Hence it is a big deal, its not invincible, but does cause a bigger headache/hindrance to any plans the opposition may have.

Even if you do fire a dummy at areas of civilian population to spend the Iron Dome, why do you assume India will sit quietly ..it would be suicidal, India will do the same, that is target populated areas. The difference, you shot a dummy, we shot a live one!!

Sir, quite obviously this tactic will be used in a war only, so its no holds barred anyways, so your response about India launching a bigger strike, is nor here nor there. There response is equally measured. Point is, the Iron Dome system can be neutralised either way. Thats the point.

I think people especially from last generations who comment in this thread, have no idea about countering dummies, these weapons (software driven) can distinguish real ones by following the projectile path. and don't underestimate the Indian artillery that rained in Kargil, even a pak minister was dumb stuck seeing the response. But where will this tit for tat end ? in completely diminishing the scarce Rs in pak BOWL !!! :hitwall:

There are two versions to Kargil, one from your end and one from Pakistan's. Our side is, that despite India 40,000 soldiers, along with its airforce, they could not even dislodge 2000 Pakistanis, until the US stepped in, that shows Indias capabilities. Also showed Pakistan alot of weaknesses in the Indian side. So lets not derail the thread by you bringing in this silly comparison.

Also, the Iron Dome missiles, will still intercept the dummy missiles regardless of whether there is a warhead in it or not, so your little theory about the following the projectile path doesn;t really matter as any such dummy fired twill be to trigger the Iron Dome defences, so either way, Mission Accomplished:sniper:

Who is underestimating Artillery? If anything the Indian side here is overestimating such systems.

What happened in Kargil has to be looked at from the context of the deployment. Pakistani troops did not have adequate Artillery cover
because they were operating on the slopes facing the Indian side.

For the Indian Artilllery, the target was at elevation but directly in front. The Pakistani Artillery was deployed in rear bases as far back as in Skardu. IA concentrated their Artillery on specific positions and conducted heavy shelling. Obviously this was an effective use of Artillery. However point is simply this that you cannot have such systems everywhere. Where needing to get through, Pakistani Artillery will punch through as has been the case in all of the past wars. You can look up your past war dispatches to see the efficacy of the Pakistani artillery. Since Pakistan is not fielding such anti-rocket systems, Indian Artillery and rocket fire getting through is a given so not sure why the reaction or the capability of the Indian artillery is being discussed. It has no effect whatsoever on what the Pakistan Artillery would need to do to beat such systems (if they were ever deployed with military units operating against Pakistan).

Lastly, before you talk about scarce Rs in Pak bowl to remind us about wastage, think about the 450 million Indians scrounging on less than $1/day before talking about diminishing funds.

In a utopian world, instead of looking at spending $30 billion in the next 5 year on military upgrades, Indians would have been spending this amount on this deprived mass of half a billion people. ;)

I would like to thank Pakistan for Kargil as it started our defense modernization program, otherwise we would have been still lacking basic weapons. 1 decade is gone and we have acquired some weapons and some are under order and some yet to be ordered.
around 2020 we will be a decent force.

The objective of Pakistan of getting Kashmir highlighted was achieved at that time, but now it is back to where it was.

As per India, it started defense modernization and was further helped by 26/11.

While I am thanking for these 2 events I salute the brave soldiers who laid life at time of Kargil and my fellow citizens who lost life in 26/11.

Hope you know that Tiger Hill was won by IA which was highest peak and from there advantage was with IA.

Forget about actual result, those armies who cannot even claim that they are fighting should forget about claiming who won. You guys could not support your own men because your COAS and PM could not tell the world that we were fighting, instead you blamed on terrorist.

For more details visit the Kargil thread.

A typical pathetic emotional Indian attitude,

But agreed, lets leave this for another thread and stick to the point which has been totally ignored in your post :argh: :argh: :argh: :argh: :argh: :argh: :argh: :argh:

Nobody blamed it on "terrorists". They were Mujahideen and even when we went public with it, they were still Mujahideen.

Despite the claims of Indians that we did not want to "own" any of these men, the reality is far from it. The operational secrecy required that Pakistan kept this information from becoming open knowledge.

When the Pakistani troops fell, the Indians offered to return the bodies but wanted to have media present which is contrary to the way bodies had been returned in the past. Usually we have had flag meetings and bodies returned. Since the concern on the Indian side really wasn't humanitarian and rather to score diplomatic points, the Pakistani side refused to take bodies.

Yet when the bodies were returned, their loved ones were taken care of. Those who went MIA had their families taken care of. There are still officers and men (on both sides) whose bodies have not been recovered yet we remember them and honour them for their service to the nation.

As such there is no issue of not supporting our troops.

As far as Indians taking the positions back, without a doubt Indians won some hard fought battles with valour, however what was taken back was a about 10% of the total defensive complexes and positions taken up.

I always have maintained that Kargil was not something that was conjured up to win over Kashmir. It was a tactical need given what had gone on in the region. We can debate the pros and cons for next two months now. However I do want to dispel the impression in the minds of the Indians that us Pakistanis and our government did not own up to our officers and jawans. That was not the case. Those who understood the reasons and did not want to engage in political point-scoring stayed away from making outlandish claims about us not wanting our dead back or not supporting them.

Your so-called mujahideen are our terrorists(for the rest of the world as well), these are the same mujahideen who are reincarnated as taliban both versions Afghan taliban and TTP.

Don't know about the both versions part but TTP mixed in with Indian terrorist RAW from our point of view. And oh yes, the Indian terrorist soldiers says it all, eeerrr how many mass graves have we now found in Kashmir now..........like I said, this is derailing the thread so itstead of all of us trying to get in the last word, lets stop

I would like to belive that a nation's decision to take back the bodies of their fallen soldiers does not depend on the motive of the country returning the body. In my view the refusal to accept the bodies in front of the media was to not accept that Pakistani army was involved in what the whole pakistani establishment was referring to as a conflict with local militants

i ask a simple question if India was to be given option b/w choosing Iron Dome & S-400 or even S-300p which it will choose.

India already has the S-300. And the Iron Dome too will eventually come.

I daresay with the booming economy that India has it can buy both rendering Pakistan completely i dont wanna say it but 'failed'.

Ya. Its slowly coming to that.

I believe that russian system is a counter for UAV & kind-off major tactical weapons including cruise ballistic missile but this Dome is specially designed to counter a artillery based attack mostly its effectiveness against salvo typically make it kind off deadly.
So, India having known for its poor performance in armour ( which backbone is artillery ) will probably opt for Iron Dome to save its fragile tanks from being hammered via Pakistan MLRS

Were on earth, did you get that from!! Fragile Tanks!! The T-72 can hardly be called fragile. As for your statement about India's poor performance in armour, you clearly need to do a lot more reading. As it stands now your statement stinks of ignorence.
