SRINAGAR: Two Army jawans were killed on Monday as Pakistani troops pounded Indian positions with mortars and machine guns in Gurez sector in Kashmir along the Line of Control (LoC) in yet another ceasefire violation.
"The Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire by opening firing in Gurez sector at 12.30pm which lasted till 2.00pm," an Army spokesman said here.
He said two jawans were killed in the firing by Pakistani troops, who used automatic rifles, machine guns and mortars to target the Indian posts.
"Our troops responded to the unprovoked aggression in equal measure," he added.
The ceasefire violation comes five days ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled to visit to Jammu & Kashmir on November 7.
