Twitter gets an Indian-American CEO - Parag Agrawal

Its a mystery to me how and why south indians accept to be exploited like that being part of india.
South India is less populated than the north. This will make South India less influential in national politics compared to states from the north regardless of their economic contribution to the union. So, I understand what you are trying to highlight.

But I do not see what you would find mysterious about this. Influential communities in the south were part of the congress movement for Independence. Then later on, defeat by China in 1962 contributed to national unification. Now almost every school kid gets indoctrinated into nationalism from young age. This history is well know.

This H1B Parag doesn't know what hot seat he planted his a$$ on.

Enjoy - Parag.
Isn’t Patel just a last name common to Gujaratis? There are many different families named Patel. Most small motels might be run like that but plenty of mid sized branded hotels are owned by Gujaratis and they are run professionally.

It doesn't matter. What makes you believe any Indian (whether Patel or not) is averse to making money by spending less on cheap supplies. These Sanghis don't care about reputation of the "Chain", repeat business or any of that. All they care about is saving money on labor and supplies. Third rate cheap mentality.

At National Parks, I have sometimes stayed in Hampton Inns or such chains (no other options available) owned by these Patel idiots and the same things I mentioned above (cheap everything, family run, no outside employees) applies.

Brand names are no guarantee of Patels running their own leased properties any better. Personal experience, bud.

the new monkey is an uncle tom like the rest of 'em. they'll do what the u.s. government dictates. I'm in the tech industry, so trust me on this; h1 visas for indians from companies like microsoft and google have fast dwindled. white ceos in the past would push back on the u.s. government and force them to allow the visas but these uncle toms are yes men to the u.s. government. they will do as they are told. so sanghis should not expect any pro hindutva or even pro indian behavior. in fact, they can expect quite the opposite.
Do you expect a drop in H1B and associated visas as American citizens demand preferential access to tech job training and then tech jobs?

Also, do you foresee People migrating away from Twitter to another platform, not just those that don’t want to trust this new CEO, who said Twitter does have to follow the first amendment, but Trump supporters that dont want to endure censorship as we go into the midterm elections in 2022?

This is how this new CEO is perceived amongst those that watch politics inside the “Beltway”. And one of the hosts of this show, the more conservative one, is himself Indian. When Republicans take back Congress in the fall, they will try to either breakup Twitter an other tech giants or regulate them to allow more free speech, IMHO.

Summary: Expect censorship in the form of shadow bans and limiting what appears in your feed.

@letsrock
I don't see this platform thrive in the long run. Copy cat ideas seldom prosper when the original is accessible easily for nothing. :-)

You gotta be kiddin' me.

India is the biggest cesspool in the whole world. Indians know this first and foremost.

Any chance to get out of India for good, Indians will seize it immediately. Forget Piyare Watan (Priya Janambhoomi)!

There are in fact special H1B visa temples in Hyderabad (among other places) for this purpose. I think you pray to Vishnu's incarnation, but you do pray only for US visa....Hyper-nationalism is a hobby only for losers WHILE YOU ARE IN INDIA.

Of course --- that is essentially the case with most developing countries. India is pretty filthy overall, but it seems to be South Asian trait.

I've been to Dhaka (once) and Delhi (twice) so have some idea of the experience. I just meant if there are now some people who are foregoing opportunities abroad to instead serve their country given the new hyper-nationalism. But your point is well taken :chilli:

Motel purchased in 1980's may indeed be 4-5x more valuable. A residential building is the same on average, but much more in certain markets.

The home an individual lives in indeed doesn't generate revenue. But you can buy additional homes.

The difference is that when you rent out long term to a tenant, they perform unpaid labor for you: cleaning, minor pest control, minor maintenance, etc. That's all value that you are getting for free. Meanwhile their rent pays your mortgage even as prices rise on average so eventually you gain income over mortgage as rent rises.

A motel on the other hand has tenants of such short terms that, while they provide higher value per tenant, there will always be a nonzero vacancy rate, and all the unpaid labor performed by tenants now has to be performed by you (a losing proposition if you can get a regular job that pays higher than what you'd need to hire that labor) or you have to pay for labor including property management, cleaning, maintenance, etc.

buying rental property for housing is not the same as running a motels. motels beat residential property easily for income especially if your motel is in a metropolitan area or tourist spot. it has its hassles of management and it is not for everyone. managing a rental property for housing has its hassles. you can make a living managing & owning a motel. it is hard to make a living off 1 rental property income.

most of us in the upper middle class can purchase a rental property in many parts of the country. purchasing a motel something only the rich can afford these days. or someone with access to multi-million credit line.

Apply burnol. Race is not a factor in selecting CEO, he's smart, went to IIT, then Stanford for MS and PhD. He was the CTO at twitter and now he's the CEO before holding top positions in Microsoft, AT&T.

Indian American means person of Indian Origin.

I think due to region and especially population,
They should hire Chinese as they are brilliant in IT,
But they are hiring Indians due to hate towards China,
They do not want to see Chinese..

expect? the drop is already happening. I've had to give out the bad news to my direct reports who are on h1 visas, not just indians but also others. But yes, they are mostly indians who have been given the boot. some still work for me but they have to work remotely, from india, on an indian salary (meaning rupees, not dollars) and they have to work on the american west coast business times, meaning they work at nights when we are in day time. I've been seeing far fewer indian tech workers on the streets and roads during commute hourse before the lock downs. once the lock downs were lifted, their presence has gone even more. now, I am strictly talking about the tech sector in the u.s. but I imagine canada and europe are seeing the same reduction since they follow american trends.

no I don't. I don't take this indian ceo very seriously, end of the day, he will comply and comply very submissively to the american laws and constitutional dictates. sanghis will be wasting their time thinking they will get preferential treatments.

it will go to the supreme court and be challenged but yes, entirely possible that the supreme court would advocate the breakup using the monopoly laws. twitter no doubt is in trouble; the white ceo was smart to take his money, cut and run, leaving the new indian ceo to get shafted.

It's never about competency, it's all about the mentality. Mentality leads, not competency.
Godbless Twitter.

Why do you even bother to reply to him ? Just hail the mighty bangla and engage with sane members. Thankfully the people in Bangladesh govt aren't even 1% like him. That would have been a tragedy

Motels are less liquid than residential housing too, since you can't sell them as quickly. And most of the money comes from business operations that you have to hire full time staff to manage or work it as a full time job.

So it's not really a real estate investment any more than an office tower is. Yes the office tower makes money by renting offices but the construction then upkeep is a full time job for multiple corporations. It isn't liquid nor can you count on the appreciation of the land to cover business losses.

Also, anyone can run a small scale motel with a McMansion and Air BnB.

His only hired because his easily controllable but aside from that brace yourselves in seeing imaginable trends like that Indian man who married the dog.... In my honest opinion Indians are not suited to engage on SNS or to engage in the same social platform as the world and twitter should follow Facebook steps by limiting India to avoid cesspool levels...
