Twenty US soldiers involved in Kandahar killings

Wed Mar 14, 2012 4:11PM GMT

An Afghan committee says that up to 20 US soldiers have been involved in the Sunday killing of at least 16 Afghan civilians in Kandahar Province.

The committee or fact-finding mission has been set up by the Afghan Parliament to investigate the killing of at least 16 Afghan civilians in Kandahar’s Panjwayi district.

According to the head of the mission, after probing the circumstances and speaking to witnesses and locals, it was concluded that the crime could not have been committed by a single soldier.

Seyed Ishaq Gilani also said that local religious and tribal elders said there was more than one soldier involved.

This is while the US military insists that only one soldier was involved in the massacre.

On Sunday, a US soldier opened fire on Afghan civilians inside their homes, killing at least 16 and injuring several others in the town of Panjwaii.

Kandahar tribal leaders called on the Afghan government and the international community to carry out an investigation into the crime and put the perpetrators of the heinous act on trial in an Afghan court.

Afghan lawmakers have also called for a public trial of the US troops involved in the massacre.

Meanwhile, the Afghan Taliban have vowed revenge against the US forces.

So much for trying to brush it under the carpet and say it was one crazed American. Clearly this barbaric behaviour by American troops is the norm.

.
I think this is outrageous. I think there is no carpet big enough for this to be swept under. The Americans certainly have a lot to answer for. Right now i would be ashamed if i was American. Ashamed of the soldiers that represent the stars and stripes. I hope these 20 shameful lowest form of human are brought to justice where they committed the gruesome acts.

this incident is just a glimpse of all that US troops done in Afghanistan and Iraq . If you were expecting anything good from them then i think you were fooling yourself . these are wolves in human skin and this is not the sole incident , dozen and dozen of such incidents reported in Afghanistan.

Afghan govt. wish Pashtoons dead more than US soldiers.

International community knows nothing about what's going around in Afghanistan.

i think U.S bashing should be stopped now:rolleyes:.i hope justice will be given

Who is U.S. bashing? Can we not comment about the thread? Its a truly sadistic state of affairs and it should be highlighted. We should never forget the barbaric way they have behaved and now it seems to be a regular occurrance.
Shame you couldnt say anything on topic? Ar you proud of the flags you are flying today - even though i believe they are false? :azn:

well the so called world policeman (U.S) if occupy some country and its soldiers are involve in such gruesome act then it should be questioned about these Inhuman and insane acts...

if any other Muslim country soldiers have committed such an act, the whole world would be condemning it right now and preparing their war machinery to teach that country a lesson :disagree:

that false flagger is now history
no point in responding to such people who are not interested in what reasons you give.

There is absolutely NO evidence for this, Aryan_B. The videotape shows the lone gunman returning from the village and surrendering.

If there were 20 crazed soldiers, there'd be a lot more dead, I am afraid.

Pretty much everyone I've talked to would have no problem turning this guy over to local judiciary for trial, and no one would shed a tear if he was executed for this horrendous crime. Unfortunately, I think he'll be tried by the U.S. military under our UCMJ. If guilty, I hope he is executed.

what you got in mind?

ensure that Americans stay longer than they already have in Afghanistan?

killing Pakistani troops, Afghan soldiers, burning Quran, urinating on corpses and repeatedly killing civilians in air raids and the recent brutal murder of Afghan families are just the few examples where American Military has lost the plot. but in the end this camel has to be kicked out of the Afghan tent and this cant be achieved with hostilities.

for the sake of Afghans (who you claim to be very concerned about) pray that the American occupation ends sooner rather than later and they dont have any excuse to prolong their stay here.

Irfan, I thought an answer for you but sadly that thread got closed so Im here to answer you, your questions as above you raised there, and the answer is as below:

We all say the same thing but in a different way. You would say, “either every interest of Afghans would be defended by NATO, or, they would simply leave that place.” :meeting: It musn't look like that you can’t sit on the table for further talk . It must be proved that you were prepared to support every effort against terrorism, whatever the concern US has in Afghan like fighting against AL Qaeda/ Taliban etc, is fully considered and you are ready for every possible co-operation if the civilians of Afghan are defended. there must never be that if US/ EU again face any terror attack originated from that region then it was you or me who advised them to surrender to Taliban who hide Al Qaeda activists there. “Politics is not done by dcik head,, but by the guts to stand on any type of talk.” "I won’t like to see 'further' destruction of Afghanistan by those Al Qaeda and Taliban militants who were trained by CIA/ NATO itself." There must not be any reason why can’t we negotiate :pop:

have a look on the Afghani scholars; they first want a successful and Prosperous Afghan and also better opportunities to get progress in their own life :agree:. And if US/ NATO want to bomb their home, they must provide space to Afghanis in their own home, in NATO countries, no less than . No charity Afghans want, nor any more aid is accepted, If Western nations want to bomb homes of Afghans then they must provide space to those Afghanis whose homes are being bombed by NATO air strikes, No less than that . Even just one Western country, Australia, is two times bigger in size than India of population 1.2bn and Australia is also one of those who wants to bomb Afghan’s home in chase of their militants, those Al Qaeda and Taliban militants who were trained by CIA/ NATO itself. Then why can’t hardly 4mil to 5mil Afghan refugees living in Pakistan’s camp get space/ protection in Australia and in other NATO countries, with hardly 1 mil more who may run from there due to NATO's bombing? even total population of Afghanistan is less than 30mil?

Just few days before, when I faced enough, I had proposed to accept all the 12mil Muhajirs of Pakistan who left India in 1947, because they did mistake to go there, if they think. then why can’t we expect the same from NATO who wants to bomb Afghan’s home which is continuously killing Afghan civilians? No aid/ charity Afghan want, if you want to bomb their home then give them space in those Western countries who are behind bombing them, otherwise, before Afghanis show ‘middle finger’ to NATO, NATO would pack and leave Afghan.
