Prime Minister Erdogan has ordered public companies, TAI and TEI, to start negotiation with the Swedish automotive company SAAB. Turkiye considers different options including purchase the 'aircraft engines' producing department of the SAAB.

In the last Defense Industry Executive Committee meeting chaired by Prime Minister Erdogan, the projects which will carry Turkiye to 2023, have been discussed including the "domestic plane project". The Prime Minister has given order to evaluate the possibility of purchase the aircraft engines producing department of the SAAB, it is known SAAB is experiencing financial difficulties.

After this instruction, a special team (aircraft industry companies, experts and bureaucrats) went to Sweden and met with the management of Saab. The interview took place last Thursday. There is no explanation of the results.
