If this is correct, would Turkey look to develop a new drone or just upgrade its current HALE drones such as the Akinici?it would certainly give Turkey a huge advantage to be able to observe targets from afar such as Greek or Syrian forces while staying within friendly or neutral airspace.

Akinci is MALE drone, HALE drone will be program for TUSAS. Advanced drone program.

Is it now? I always assumed it was a HALE drone considering it's payload and size.

It means that Turkey's going to be developing a brand new HALE drone.
Akinci is HALE drone.
