Turkish Sensor and Detector Programs

How did Turkey acquire knowledge to produce radars? Reverse engineering for any of it?

this tech is still useful today, and you have to remember this is Egypt's first radar. How many nations even produce any air search radar? ASELSAN has been doing this since 1991, that's like comparing ASELSAN to Raytheon at present. There is also a 450KM 3D radar under development.

Airborne AESA Radar

AESA Radar will be capable of non-co-operative and automatic target recognition, while also featuring protection against radar frequency jamming, and has electronic support and electronic attack functions

Its air-to-air capabilities include extended-range search, track while scan modes and weather detection, as well as multiple target tracking, providing mid-course guidance for missiles and battle damage assessment.

For ground surveillance applications, the design features synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and ground moving target indication/tracking (GMTI/T) modes, along with air-to-ground ranging

Aselsan believes its AESA radar could eventually compete with systems such as Northrop Grumman's APG-83 Scalable Agile Beam Radar

You can't compare their revenues. Raytheon makes 27 billion and Aselsan doesn't make above 5 billion.

Raytheon is ahead of ASELSAN by a good portion m8. Ask any defense expert and they will agree.

He’s saying that aselsan is in the same league as the best companies of course no one is claiming that aselsan is better than raytheon or northrop gruman we should all respect aselsan for all what they managed to achieve after all no one can beat us defrnse companies because us alone has bigger budget than all other 30 countries combined so it is obvious that raytheon will have several times bigger revenue yet aselsan still can produce products with quality close to products made by its us counterparts
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.da...-become-global-player-in-underwater-sonar/amp

Aselsan made radar/product probably will always be behind raytheon but let’s be honest even the israeli companies are behind us only in air defense and missile technology russia is better than us in all other fields american companies have advantage however if turkey is able to completely develop its defense industry then rules will be changed i can bet that many countries will buy hisar family(hisar a hiaar o and hisar u) that in first stage will be behind other traditional systems but I expect that turkey will offer significant TOT and this kind of approach will put very big pressure on americans russians and europeans who usually don’t want to share any kind of TOT thanks to this kind of strategic vision in 10 years turkey will be top exporter and many products will have better quality than they have now actually turkey prefers joint production no matter if it sells or buys because turkey truly believes in multi polar world and is keen to get and share knowledge with partner countries
If you aks me why they would buy hisar family the answer is simple turkey won’t issue treats to you and you will have multi layered air defense complex covering your country i have big respect for s400 i think it’s the best but still s400 alone cannot safeguard your country effectively(there’s only one or two russian allies that have modern russian short medium and long range systems) if we talk about americans then they will sell you after 10 years for very big price only one patriot version and still you will need short and medium/long rage system and if you want to buy from russians short or medim to complement the whole air defense system there will be probably catsa sanctions and thanks to this arrogant approach when turkey will compete the hisar project a lot of countries will buy it because its cheaper no political concessions to turkey and multi layered system is more effective rather than one long range system even though the long range system(russian or american) would be maybe better against hisar u (if we use one on one comparison)

It is a licence product, the most important parts will be imported from country x. What i want to tell you is with out R&D you will be never able to build a decent Radar. Everyone in the world is using Galium Nitrite(GaN) in ther T&R module for stronger radar. Againg you will be 30 years behind in basic radar, With GaN you can build more T&R module because it is more heat resistant and better characteristics in electricity.

This mean more universities and building your own defence industry with particaption of private sector. This is first step, i didn't see a decent time-line of projects from Egypt. You will see in the end that nobody will give you the tech, because everybody have invested time, money and people. The most difficult is educating engineers to that level.

Several years later you will be able to compare Aselsan with Raytheon.

It is not a licensed product, it was licensed in the late 80s, and early 90s and the production run was complete. The most important parts of any radar are produced by a select number of countries, because it would be economic stupid to make your own part when it would be much cheaper to buy from a nation that is developed at producing those components. We honestly don't know what Egypt is up to because it doesn't brag like Turkey does and give updates like a social media bitch.

Egypt is building its own defense industry with participation with private sector. Again we don't know what is being researched by private, and military owned companies.

You are a disaster, key compentents are made in foreigner countries for economic reason. You don't have the tech and like you are not working for that. Giving updates on social media is what Turks want to see, he if your companies don't work they will show nothing in the end:-).

Those are the APAR S/X band TR module of Aselsan having a range more than 250km, exported to Thales Netherland. Those strategic modules are the heart of a radar. It has nothing to do with bragging. The capability is there in front of your eyes, and It is impossible to reach such capabilities in current engineering conditions of Egypt (in acc to my research).

Don't you think it would be cheaper to buy them COTS from China or Russia? You are assuming that Egypt would want to produce them in house when even some European nations don't produce them in their nations some of the time.
