Turkish Scientists visited Ukraine Antarctic base Vernadsky

Turkish Scientists visited from 02.04.2016 - 10.04.2016 the Ukrainian Antarctic base Vernadsky.
Turkey wants asap sign the Antarctic Environmental Protocol to establish an own Research Base. The Law was presented already for signing to the Turkish Parliament.
The participating 13 scientists told that the visit of Ukrainian Base Vernadsky was very important to gain experience and to make further plans for establishing a Turkish Base.
Future cooperation and plans will be intensive made between Ukraininan National Antarctic Research Center (NASC) , Turkish PolReC ( Polar Research) and TÜDAV.


Prof. Öztürk from Turkish Maritime Research Institute ( TÜDAV) said that the reason for the plan is only scientific and nobody is allowed to explore natural resources up to 2048 cause of Article 7 of the International Antarctic Environment Protocol.
