Boris Johnson has Turkish ancestory! something no one could have imagined but its true.

I always had the feeling that GB has the most sincerely approach against Turkey among European countries, the EU-Turkey negotiations will most probably scrapped once the dust settles, GB and Turkey might be two countries outside EU with priviledged partnership which surely will boost the relations of booth, enjoying partnership with EU while not being bound to their legislation and the Eurozone, a win-win for everyone.

I think GB is just being pragmatic here, but thats just my speculation, time will tell.

Yep, a Turk hater with Turkish ancestors, ironic. Btw, about trusting British always reminds me a saying;

If you see two fishes are figting in the river, it means an Englishman passed by 5 mins ago from there.

TURKISH citizens and police have ‘surrounded’ the Incirlik air base it operates with the United States — and where a large stockpile of NATO nuclear weapons is held — ahead of a visit by a senior US official tomorrow.

Reports out of Turkey suggest all entrances to the air base have been blocked by heavy vehicles and police sent to secure its peremiter.

The unusual nigh-time move sparked rumours of a second coup attempt on Turkish social media, with concerned citizens rushing to the air base to join the blockade.

The move comes less than a week after a top US Army general was accused by Turkish media of ‘leading’ the uprising against President Recep Tayyip Erdogan earlier this month.

But Turkish Minister for European Affairs has since reportedly sought to reassure local media, stating the mission was just a “safety inspection”.

Regional Governor Ahmet Cina has told Turkish news services: “Everthing is normal and controlled. There is no movement of our troops.”

US Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman General Joseph Dunford is due to fly in for an inspection of the air base later today. He is also expected to hold talks with the Turkish government in Ankara.

Last week, General Dunford labelled Turkish claims that a retired US general was behind the coup as “absurd”.

The Turkish Hurriyet news service reported Turkish authorities had responded to “intelligence reports” by ordering the move about 11pm Turkish time.

It states ‘riot police’ and armed vehicles have ‘taken precautions’ around the base.

The air base has been a central facility in US and NATO efforts against Islamic State. It also houses a stockpile of nuclear weapons as part of NATO’s deterrence force.

Several of the aircraft used by coup forces during the failed uprising flew out of the Incirlik air base, which then had its power supply cut off for several weeks.

ARMED FORCES ‘REINED-IN’

Turkey will shut down its military academies and put the armed forces under the command of the defence minister, President Tayyip Erdogan said in a move designed to bring the military under tighter government control after a failed coup.

The changes come after more than 1700 military personnel were dishonourably discharged for their role in the abortive July 15-16 putsch. Erdogan, who narrowly escaped capture and possible death on the night of the coup, told Reuters in an interview last week that the military, NATO’s second-biggest, needed “fresh blood”.

The dishonourable discharges included around 40 per cent of Turkey’s admirals and generals.

Turkey accuses US-based Islamic cleric Fethullah Gulen of orchestrating the putsch, in which a faction of the military commandeered tanks, helicopters and fighter jets and attempted to topple the government. Erdogan has said 237 people were killed and more than 2100 wounded.

Gulen, who has lived in self-imposed exile in the United States for years, denies the charge and has condemned the coup.

So far, more than 60,000 people in the military, judiciary, civil service and schools have been either detained, removed or suspended over suspected links with Gulen.

Turkey’s Western allies condemned the attempted putsch, but have been rattled by the scale of the resulting crackdown.

Both the general staff and the intelligence agency now report to the prime minister’s office. Putting them under the president’s overall direction would be in line with Erdogan’s push for a new constitution centred on a strong executive presidency.

Erdogan also said that a total of 10,137 people have been formally arrested following the coup.

I hope they use this as an excuse to kick out USA. It's time for Turkey to realize that USA and Europe don't give a shit about Turkey and they have constantly indirectly screwed with ALL middle eastern countries (specially their allies).

All military schools in Turkey have been shut down and 1,389 soldiers have been dismissed from the army over suspected links to the July 15 failed coup attempt, according to a state of emergency decree law published in the Official Gazette late on July 31.

According to the decree prepared by the government, war academies, military high schools, and NCOs' high schools have been closed, and the Gülhane Military Medical Academy and the military hospitals all around the country have been assigned under the Health Ministry.

Also, the decree brought the land, naval and air forces under the Defense Ministry.

The latest dismissals bring the number of soldiers dismissed from the Turkish military since the failed coup attempt to over 3,000.

On a personal note, I think RTE is really afraid and is dismantling the army. Because he fears the consequences of being investigated and the truth of his corruption being exposed, in which case only the army can stop him.

Sorry Army doesn't have very great reputation itself. But this failed coup is not going to hurt the Army for decades to come but also going to make Erodgan really very powerful

And all that is very much approved and supported by all AKP supporters under the pretext of "Democracy winning"... This blind love for Erdo is scary- just look at those people who are still on the streets chanting... Nobody questions Erdogan why is the country getting into bigger and bigger problems with every week passing: terror attacks and lost soldiers every day and week (people don't even care about that anymore I guess... but the only thing what's worse than fear is apathy... apathy that is a disrespect towards those young people who die for this country), the millions of illegals inside Turkey who are an enormous problem not only to the security but also to the economy and the demographics of the country. The economy is getting worst every year since Erdo decided to flex his muscles with a whole sectors of the economy suffering by his decisions. And the country gets more and more isolated not only from the world but also from the region with it being unable to achieve it's interests across the region.
I don't expect people who still live in a 18th century feudal state of mind to question their leaders's corrupt government that helped some circles make tens of billions dollars in an unfair and illegal ways... I don't expect people like this to ask Erdo why he is changing sides so fast every month. Instead it's always easier to blame others for your problems, to blame foreign powers... Of course there will be foreign countries helping all this chaos happening in Turkey but it's our mistake, it's AKP's mistake all that is able to happen because of course people will try to take advantage of you when you are stupid and incompetent.

Democracy is not wining in Turkey... uneducated regressive elements in this country are winning after all. Since the failed coup and this big thing Turks achieved by preventing their country not being dragged into a civil war, they are now used as a shield for Erdo and his clique to take over all the power in the country. Unfortunately this country is doomed if these same people continue to rule over it. Almost a decade and a half was enough for those people... their rule is now not bringing any good thing to this state so if Erdogan is really the democrat he is saying to be, there should be new elections or why not even a government of National unity with all big parties taking part in governing Turkey, not just AKP.

Conflict 'News' is one of the more bias and unreliable sources, especially when it comes to dealing with Turkey; don't use it as a source
