Turkish Peace Operations in Syria (Operation Olive Branch) Updates & Discussions

I wonder if The deal/push will continue in the entirety of ex-YPG held areas in North Aleppo...
Let's hope to see a full control of all this Yellow area...

There was propably never a real deal for those areas but more an understanding that Assad would get some areas. Turkey most likely used the protest as a "we both can't afford unrests while trying to end this conflict" against the russians and they know how much Iran wants to undermine Russia in Syria so they most likely agreed to a couple villages south of Azaz and Tel Rifaat and the rest goes to Assad to satisfy everyone.

Turkey's influence in Ghouta most likely also helped.

Tel Rifaat and Meenagh area was a TR/RU deal... since the beginning, we saw it with the lack of offensive on that part since the beginning...
TR used the PKK and "Protest" events to push for a change of "deal"
And Thanks to TR "good" stance against Russia whatever in Syria or on the international stage, like the SKripal case or sanctions or Def deals etc... Russia choose to accept it. "A show of good faith"
Ofc Iran/ASSad are not happy... but what can they do? When RU is somewhere "Officially" they have no words neither no "power" to intervene with whatever militia under their sleeves...

There has been a underlying Russia-Iran conflict going on for the last year now. It will only escalate with Irans influence being reduced by Turkey and Russia. Russia doesn't need a "strong" Iran it needs a weak Iran that listens and obeys Putins orders. I could see the Russia-Iran alliance break apart in the coming months if Turkey starts even more operations.

Don't forget those pro-Regime fighters sent to Afrin were under Iranian command no official regime soldier set foot on to afrin because they are under the orders of the Russian Armed Forces.

First Afrin, now Tal Rıfaat.. PKK/YPG flee from everywhere to avoid direct confrontation with the FSA. Unlike how they are portrayed by the western media, they are really cowards.

PKK/YPG even did not fight ISIS. It was the US jets destroying entire cities including civilians under ISIS control. ISIS did not retreat because of being afraid of YPG, it seems, but have no other choise to stop the civilian deaths.

So, if to compare the two, i can say ISIS fighters were more brave than YPG terrorists.

Tel Rifaat has been abandoned for a long time now, they fled after their defence lines broke in Afrin. There are videos of FSA fighter walking through the streets and you can't see a single soul in the town. The only forces there were Russians MPs as a buffer.

So, that means there is actually no military operation in Tal Rıfat. but an agreement with Russia.

Yandaş medyada "operasyon başladı, YPG çatışmaya girmeden kaçtı" gibi haberler yapılıyor.

There are alot of refugees from Afrin in the Tal Rifat area, who cant go back to Afrin because theyre not allowed to by YPG. Because of the presence of these civilians, we will probably not see further gains in the area for some time.

But then again, I could be wrong.
Im just happy for the people of Tal Rifat :).

Correct. There is visual evidence of empty NDF and PYD positions in Tal Rıfat. The city was probably empty even before Afrin center fell. But that doesn't mean there won't be any firefights.
