Turkish Peace Operations in Syria (Operation Olive Branch) Updates & Discussions

Yes, 2 tanks destroyed, 2 or 3 damaged, 5 or 6 soldiers martyred. The FSA numbers are not enough I believe for this operation. They dont have enough soldiers to advance and also control the areas taken at the same time from what I can see. Also im sure there are special operations advisers there. I also think we need more aerial support. We have enough fighters for it, but I dont see it being used.
hopefully you guys continue the efforts to remove daesh from the area. is the war also against the YPG as well?

Fvcking propaganda as Kurds liberators of Syrians...

All sides use propaganda. Im wondering if the US forces are going to remain until the YPG elements of the SDF leave the city and then be there when the Turks arrive.

Really interesting to see how US forces are attempting to balance these 2 forces who are so at odds with each other for its goals. Hopefully they are deft enough to prevent a general escalation, at least until ISIS is dealt with.

YPG won't retreat from Menbijj, they will stay there under a different name.

Why would they be handing it over, now and not before?
Those are Arab territories.
I couldn't really say. Leverage perhaps? I've read speculation that this would allow Turkish FSA an avenue to make an offensive on Raqqah, but that level of cooperation sounds unrealistic to me.

But hey, war has made for stranger bedfellows.

I'll tell you why, they are chickensh!t that the Turks will have no mercy on their sorry assezz.
Why didnt they attack Raqqah themselves, maybe cause they dont care for the rest of the Syrians but their own people and territories.

From Israeli Operation “Peace for Galilee” to the Turkish Operation “Euphrates Shield”

The ongoing Turkish operation “Euphrates Shield“, launched on August 24 to keep both Islamic State (ISIS) and Kurdish forces off Turkey’s southeastern border, shares some important similarities to the 1982 Israeli Operation “Peace for Galilee which are worth exploring and pondering...
