Guys why patrol vesselss' 40mm auto cannon doesnt have any illuminating radar ?
İ dont offer put RAM system which costs 10million USD and one missile costs 500.000usd.
But Türkiye produces Gökdeniz CIWS. İt would be very easy to convert YTKBs 40mm auto cannons to CIWS.
40mm dual autocannon as effective as Stinger missile at5km range .
How much would it cost ? İ dont expect putting Gökdeniz search and illimunating radars would cost too much than the patrol vessel.

If it is patrol vessel, why the ship shouldnt control and monitor coastal airspace?

Whatelse is 40mm was used as CIWS...

40mm Caliber 20 -40 pieces ammunition vs 50k USD Manpads vs SAM with 500k USD missile .

Listen to me and put air searching and target illuminating radars on patrol vessels.

our tanks and some other vehicles should have their own uavs

Ekber Onuk (Yonca Onuk Shipyard owner) shared new project his official instagram account:

1x76mm Naval Gun
16xAtmaca SSM
2xStop/Stamp
1XRoketsan DSH Rocket
2XGökdeniz CIWS
Helipad
2XWater Jet
That heli is bigger than the hangar  Anyway, I do think that we need to turn the Aegean Sea into a heaven of FACs to free up bigger ships while trying to build the I class faster...

I like it if realized good replacement canidate for the older corvettes, however bit too much weapon systems for such a small vessel.

1x76mm Naval Gun
2xAselsan Stop
2xGökdeniz
2x4-cell MDAS
16xAtmaca
1xHeli hangar
And you think this is only a bit much? This thing (almost) has the same firepower as the I class frigates... Unfortunately dreams do not come true...

Once upon time Aselsan made launchers for LMM. Why dont we still have LMM style missiles:)
Thanks to laser beam they can be guided upto 5000 meter altitude.

Edit : we have already had Aselsan Atis Kontrol Radar complex and Sea Zenith 25mm CIWS!!

Dont forget Aselsan Cirit-UMTAS launcher

Its partly because Tuzla class boats (ytkb) were designed and built to meet theater security requirements of the Navy such as assisting Coast Guard, SAR, supporting ASW patrols close to coast, countering smugglers/traffickers, security of bases/ports/approaching channels and lanes, surface combatant entry/exit escort.

Of course this doesn't make it any lesser than a warship. It still needs to maintain a proportionate level of surface firepower capability. Thus the twin forties and ASW rockets. But given the nature of the majority of the tasks performed by the ship, its better to have, seemingly more traditional weapon systems to meet those needs. Such types of boats are vulnerable to missile attacks by nature, including modern designs, bcz they are not built for it.
To sum it up, it is as it is due to the same reason navies still use manned 12.7mm platforms on frigates.

The contract for these #Dearsan patrol boats were signed back in 2007 and predate the emergence of Gokdeniz CIWS by nearly 10 years. Remember, these were classified as PATROL BOATS, not FACs. I love the new Gokdeniz CIWS but the 40mm Oto Melara cannon on them is also very capable considering the limited mission profile of coastal patrol and harbor defense. Not to forget their anti-submarine capability (sonar + ASROC) and 2x Aselsan STAMP guns with thermal sights. Instead of spending our money on upgrading 10-yr old ships with Gokdeniz, we need to build proper new FACs.

Adding National ASELSAN mobile Air and illuminating radars is not waste of money.
Because those systems are cheap and weapon systems of your patrol vessels are lack of more capable sensors.
What i offered there isnt ant offensive weapon. Having a self defense system and monitöring airspace are very nature of patrol vessels.

However there are other considerations, such as weight, balance and ammo management, and structural changes to the body of the vessels in order to accommodate new weapons and their sensors. Not to mention new operator consoles inside the cabin. It's much harder to do than photoshoping them on and may require a complete engineering overhaul and hence added costs. Sometimes it's simply cheaper and/or more prudent to design and build NEW ships than to try and change older ones.

Again, these are patrol boats, not FACs. Their primary mission profile is patrolling littoral waters and coastal defense against submarines.
