Canal Istanbul is one of Turkey’s most strategic megaprojects, meant to stem the rising risk posed by ships carrying dangerous goods via the Bosporus, especially oil tankers

Turkey aims to complete Kanal Istanbul, a mega waterway project on the edge of Istanbul, in six years at a cost of approximately $15 billion


on average 45,000 ships pass through the Bosporus yearly, while the number was about 3,000 in 1931
Projections show that this number will reach 78,000 in 2050 ... The passage of each large ship poses a danger to the city

Türksat 5A communication satellite comes into service



Türksat 5A will propel Turkey to the league of the leading countries using Ku-Band in data communication services with television broadcasting, stating that the satellite's electric propulsion system will provide TV broadcasting and communication services for 35 years

Turkey inaugurates 1st publicly-owned floating LNG Vessel



Turkey's first publicly-owned floating liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage and regasification vessel named “Ertuğrul Gazi," will add significant flexibility to the country's energy supply chain security with its 110 million cubic meters (3.9 billion cubic feet) of storage and 28 million cubic meters of gasification capacity

It has a length of 295 meters , a width of 46 meters, and a height of 63 meters

The vessel has the highest gasification capacity among the existing FSRUs in the world

Ford Otosan to invest $2.4 billion for Turkish auto industry



Ford Otosan, a joint venture of Koç Holding, Turkey’s largest conglomerate, and U.S. automotive giant Ford, announced it will be making a $2.4 billion investment to manufacture new-generation commercial vehicles and batteries at its factory in Turkey

Ford Otosan will open its battery assembly factory for electric vehicles in 2022.
It is expected to produce 210,000 new-generation commercial vehicles and 130,000 batteries per year

Renewables shine as Turkey’s clean energy investments hit $66 Billion




Turkey’s clean energy investments have reached $66 billion with renewables constituting over 53% of the country’s total installed power capacity

Installed renewable capacity amounted to 52,353 MW out of a total capacity of 98,493 MW
