Turkish Missile Programs

I don't know if this is true or not. But in terms of both sales network and supply chain, Ukraine wants to get rid of Russian industry; while Turkey want to reduce some western countries's obstruction activities on the supply chain.
Diana Mihailova also said the AI-35 engine was developed for the GEZGIN cruise missile.

Couldn't find anything to AI-35 engine.

If there is going to be a ready purchase without TOT, USA GE engines would be preferable where tei would be more suitable for development and TOT. Ukrainian engines are not worth for ready purchase, fuel emissions are too much.

It's a cruise missile it's a one way ticket for the engine what do expect?

And Tomahawks engine is not made by GE but Williams International, btw GE doesn't produce such small turbofan/jet engines.

Turkey was negotiating with Franch to purchase Microturbo engines for Gezgin cruise missiles. At first, It was turbofan engines that was evaluated but later It was changed to turbojet engines. It seems The Franch/Turkey relations effected the destiny of this project and Turkey has altered course to Ukraine which is a good progress. I believe Turkey will use this engine until domestic equivalent replace it on Gezgin missiles, since Kale group had told that they were considering to develop different engines of same family to power bigger platforms.

You understand the importance of the engine when all the missiles you throw are eliminated by the systems. I know that Tomahawkin uses a mini turbofan because it's more efficient. The fact that Ge hasn't done this work by now doesn't mean he can't easily design a tiny engine. Moreover, it has a great partnership with tei.

According to Ukrainian news Turkey started buying ukranian engines for its Cruise missiles ( they claim the engines are bought for SOM)

It doesn’t make sense since SOM has a national engine KTJ-3200 which has passed qualification trials in recent months. Gezgin is a secret project in many aspect so News sources are likely allowed to use the term “cruise missile” and They used the name of SOM that is the first thing coming to mind.

It's also strange that TR isn't using Ukrainian potential to its fullest...
They are literally "OK" to share at every level... and yet TR stance is limited...
I believe there is several reasons, problems.
1) Ukraine is still a foreign country, because of Crimea now they want to ally with Turkey. It's good for today, but we can't know what will happen after a decade.

2) Ukraine does not ''share'' all of her technology with Turkey in a golden plate. They are still pretty protective about their technology... maybe less protective than Europe but still it is not like you describe. For example, we wanted to buy single crystal turbine blade technology from them. They didn't want to. So we produce our own single crystal turbine blades thanks to our own R&D works.

3) Ukraine produce this technologies thanks to good old Soviet Union, therefore their technology in some fields doesn't satisfy the Turkish Army. They offered a modified Ukraine made tank engine for Altay, Army didn't liked it's perfomance and reliability. Because you know, Altay is a heavy western style Tank. Soviet Tank doctrine was different.
So in the end, when you consider all of this, I believe Turkey - Ukraine Relations are in a good shape. Can we expect more to come especially after AKINCI? Yes. But dreams must have the limits.

The service life of the F15-X is brilliant. USA is the platinum standard for the quality of their weapon systems and their effectiveness. F15-X is excellent for routine airspace protection operations and monitoring, esp at $75/unit cost. Why burn F35 flight hours on basic airspace interception/monitoring missions etc.

Im happy to see that alternative foreign engines are not being dismissed. Such attitude allows for the weapon system to be developed without many delays, as engine development be it complex, requires strenuous testing before it is perceived to be integrated. We've seen many failures of cruise missiles because of engine issues or even TERCOM system used, from tried and tested US Tomahawks to brand new French MdCN Cruise Missiles..

@cabatli_53
Didn't you say that Infrared guided missiles are easy to counter in the future with lasers(?) frying the seekers?

Doesn't that mean Hisar series will be counterable fairly soon?
Assuming MAWS detected the launch and could pan some sort of laser towards the missile I wouldn't doubt if the missile could be neutered.
