Roketsan and Airbus Defence & Space’s feasibility study into the potential integration of the former’s Stand-Off Missile (SOM) onboard the Eurofighter Typhoon is some six months from completion, the manufacturer says.

A memorandum of understanding covering collaboration between the two companies was signed at the ILA show in Berlin in 2014, and the Turkish weapons developer says that the assessment of the cruise missile on the fighter is nearing completion.

Typhoon is in operation with Germany, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Spain, and the UK. New weapon integration is key to the development plan for Eurofighter, and other planned upgrades include the MBDA Storm Shadow and Brimstone, Taurus missiles and Raytheon Small Diameter Bombs.

The variant of the missile that is being developed for the Lockheed Martin F-35 Joint Strike Fighter – the SOM-J – will be flight tested in the fourth quarter of 2016, Roketsan adds, ahead of qualification completion in 2018.

“The qualification of the missile will finish in 2018. However, the production start will depend on the JSF integration and aircraft deliveries to the Turkish air force,” it says.

The company adds that according to current schedules the integration of the weapon onto the F-35 will finish in 2020, and production may start in parallel to that.

SOM is also operated onboard the Turkish air force’s Lockheed F-16 Block 40 aircraft, and it is anticipated that the SOM-J will be tested from the type ahead of integration on the JSF.

Hep aklimdaydi Suriyedeki sokaklar icin dusunuyordum.100metre ikiyuz metre otedeki bir sokak ucak kaldirmadan, 2tonluk 100km menzilli roketler kullanilmadan nasil temizlenebilir diye dusunuyordum.
Hatta aklima 500kg termobarik patlayiciyi maximum bir km uzaga atacak sevk yakitina sahip roket fikri gelmisti.
Bir tek Ben dusunmemisim demekki.

This is old idea used in irak and afganistan. Actually its sad to see in action in our country. This is warzone technology.

Italy deploys advanced air defense system in Turkey against DAESH

As the ongoing threat against Turkey continues on the Turkish-Syrian border, an air defense system and 25 military personnel arrived in southern Kahramanmaraş province late Sunday, deployed by Italy as part of NATO's package of assistance measures set to be fully applied prior to the July 8-9 Warsaw Summit. The recently deployed Italian air defense system in Kahramanmaraş will replace the German Patriot missile systems that finished their three-year, mandated mission. A senior NATO official previously told Daily Sabah during the NATO foreign ministers meeting in Brussels that Italy is planning to send SAMP-T missiles - the latest generation of surface-to-air air defense missile systems - to fight DAESH.

Along with the SAMP-Ts, sources have confirmed that NATO will also provide Turkey with an additional Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) by July.

As the Italian batteries arrived to the Turkish port of İskenderun, containers including air defense system materials were brought to the military post in Kahramanmaraş by 10 trailers late last night along with 25 Italian soldiers. It has been reported by several Turkish media outlets that the Italian Air Defense System is to be set up at the location of the former German Patriot missile systems. Commenting on additional measures, the NATO official told Daily Sabah on Tuesday that NATO is "sharing analysis, information and intelligence [to fight terrorism]. All NATO allies are contributing to the efforts of the U.S.-led global coalition to counter DAESH and the AWACS surveillance flights in support of the coalition are one option also being discussed by Allies." The NATO official concluded remarks by noting that Iraqi officers are currently undergoing training in Jordan while they are enhancing NATO's defense capacity by building support for Jordan and Tunisia.

While NATO also previously vowed to enhance Turkey's maritime and missile defenses as well as send more surveillance drones to the Turkish-Syrian border, it is claimed that the newly arrived defense system may be the SAMP/T missile system (sol-air moyenne portée terrestre or surface-to-air medium range/land). Military sources have told Daily Sabah on Tuesday that one of the batteries are to be placed in Kahramanmaraş while another is set to be installed in Gaziantep. http://www.dailysabah.com/politics/...nse-system-in-turkey-against-daesh-1465332869

The development of this missile is mind boggling. The hexagonal end caps which are designed to protect missile and launch tube from falls has even its own scientific paper, testing out different shapes and materials to find best solution. Quality.

I saw 120mm tank training rounds?
