Considering Assad is likely to stay in power due to Russia, it wouldn't be a surprise if in the future Assad decides to mass murder the locals of north Syria, who in such a case would end up refugees in Turkey again, as retaliation for supporting fsa. It'd be great if our country can at least get or claim guarantor status, just like in north Cyprus case, for those people against Assad. Though not realistic at all, if circumstances would have allowed it, our country should stimulate referendum for people in north Syria who rather want to join Turkey than face possible ethnic cleansing when Assad truly goes for such retaliations.
As for some of our own people ridiculing our country with 'imperialism', don't forget that quite some countries, at least the US, Russia and Iran, are actively pursuing their imperialistic goals in our backyard like vultures, yet some people here apparently think we should just stay away, let others run off with all the benefits and not gain anything out of it for ourselves. oyle ayakta uyumak yok, gozu acik olmaliyiz.
