Turkish F-16s again harrased by Jets and missile systems from Syria.

Syrian Jets, SAMs Lock onto Turkish F-16s: Report
by Brendan McGarry on October 11, 2015

Syrian jets and surface-to-air missile systems again locked onto Turkish F-16s, according to news reports.

Here’s an excerpt from an Associated Press account from Sunday:

“Turkey’s military said two Syrian jets and surface-to-air missile systems based in Syria locked radars on three F-16 jets patrolling the Turkish-Syrian border, in a new incident of harassment of Turkish planes from Syria.”

The article didn’t specify what kind of jets or SAMs were involved, though CNN several days ago reported that a pair of MiG-29 planes — presumably belonging to the Syrian air force — had locked onto Turkish F-16s (shown in the image above) for more than five minutes.

NATO has criticized Russian fighter jet incursions into Turkish airspace, calling the move irresponsible and dangerous.

Sukhoi Su-30 Flanker attack aircraft and Sukhoi Su-24 Fencer multi-role fighter aircraft last weekend flew over the Hatay region in the southern part of the country on the Mediterranean Sea and bordering Syria.

Russia has shown no signs of letting up its military action in the country to prop up the regime of President Bashar al-Assad. Indeed, its recent barrage of cruise missile strikes into Syria were designed in part to publicize its advances in developing the technology, at least one analyst said.

Meanwhile, Syria is equipped with numerous Russia-made surface-to-air missile systems, including the SA-2, SA-3 and SA-5 static launchers and SA-6, SA-8, SA-10 and SA-11 mobile launchers, along with anti-aircraft batteries.

If Pakistan can shoot down 20 Russian jets then Turkey is more then enough to answer in same way even without NATO... Russia is all air no substance.. proven in Afghan war.. i recommend Turkey to harass them if she want them to remain civil otherwise Russians will push u more harder... behave like crackpot against Russian...

During the Afghan war in the eighties, PAF had to keep a constant vigil on its western border. Despite the fact that PAF was not allowed hot pursuit into Afghanistan, the pilots and the ground controllers together managed to shoot down eight Soviet/Afghan aircraft without a single own loss.

During 1981-88, Pakistan experienced about 2000 air intrusions by Afghan/ Soviet forces. It shot down 8 Afghan/Soviet aircraft over the years and suffered one loss while chasing the intruders, albeit to its own shooting down of an F-16. This war helped Pakistan to acquire the latest F-16 aircraft from U.S.A and modernise its air-defence system. During the Afghan war, PAF flew a total of 10,939 sorties and logged 13,275 hours. On 17 May, 1986 Squadron Leader A Hameed Qadri of No 9 Multi Role F-16s' Squadron watching the SU-22 which, being hit by his AIM-9L missile, has turned into a ball of fire. The encounter took place at 16,000 feet over Parachinar, during the Afghan War, 1979-1988.

Numbers are 8 to 25... but let us agree on 10 confirm shoots... now tell me if we can do it against Soviets (The largest military power at that time) then why dont Turkey who have backing of NATO cant do it against Russia (with not even half of weapons and manpower of soviet union)?

@mkn_91 You are talking to an RSS operative, he will not accept any of your argument.

lol , by that logic you are ISIS operative ?? Did you notice I thanked him ?? I don't have mental block like talibitches .

You see , you can't cook up numbers, whatever is admissible, has been already logged into records.

You too had NATO backing, presence of US was akin to NATO backing, but agreed if Russians cross border then they can be shot down , same holds true with Turkish air forces if they cross into Syrian air space which they earlier used to do with impunity.

Uncle Mad Dog, while you remembered to add 16 after F but why did you conveniently forgot to add 23 and 22, against Mig's and SU's model respectively ??

And Those older models ain't in operation any longer they have been replaced by Su-34s and Mig-29s so.... think hard before preaching.

While at same time not to forget about S-300 which were not around 80s. Yes , Turks were complaining about locks from ground too.
