1400hp power is the what Altays engine needs! Russians converted helicopters turbo-shaft turbine engine for T80 tanks.
The Kamov KA-25 heli engine GTD-3 was derived to GTD-700 and 1000.
T-80 tank and its engine have been produced more than 10000!

Either for aircrafts or tanks engines are same.

If the country has been developing turbo-shaft for helis and needs more powerful engine for tankprojects, Why shouldnt considere this option?
Because you will need one Oil field per tank...
RU do not use T-80 engine anymore... that thing get you bankrupt before making the first mile out of the factory...

Could you please clarify the fuel consumption of T-80 tanks and m60 tanks.I would like to know.
They dont even keep in invantory?
Does Klimov even offer as a product new version of gas-turbine engines for land vehicle?
And what about american m1 abrams engine which is gas-turbine?

Noone hasnt offered to buy t-80 tanks or their engine mr.specialist with little letters.

Actually i should have asked to compare category of 1500hp s engines, new-old engines,russian-american engines.

Discrediting gas-turbine engines, They even dont know fuel consuptions of American gas- turbine engine which generates 1500hp and ukranian T64 tanks engine TD-3 .

We can use turbin engines for altay.But altay desinged for mtu diesel engine.we have to re-desing altay if we want to use new kind of engine.

The land based vehicles rely more on shaft power to rotate wheels than to push fluids for moving forward. There is no point going for gas turbine. Gas turbine gives high power for weight but consumes too much fuel. The conversion of turbine to shafts wheels is even more fuel inefficient.

How many horse power for example?



tumosans own page says new generation engines will be between 155 and 1000 hp.

There are a lot of engines which can generate 1500hp. But the question is whether they are enough smart and compact to fit a tank.
Also gaining 1500hp from little and compact diesel engine , yields overheating and distortions.
Germans MTU had shortened to pistons to reach high power. Then it caused overheating problems.
But with gas-turbine engines there are any such problems.
Gas-turbine vs diesel fuel consumption could be exclueded .though if diesels burn 1, gas-turbines burn 1.5-1.8

Its all about metallurgy.When you use correct metal,overheating wont be a problem.Unfortunatly we are far away from germanys level in this section.
