I have few questions to my Turkish friends.

1. Is Haydarpasa train station the only train terminal in Istanbul?
2. Have they closed this train station for next couple of years due to the high speed railway work going on?
3. How much time does it take from Istanbul to Sumela monastry by bus?
4. Is there whirling Dervish performance in Istanbul or should one need to go to Konya?
5. Which city is good for beaches and also is easier to take a day trip to Ephesus? - Bodrum or Kusadasi?

I whold take domestic flight to trabzon ( doesn't cost that much) to visit surmena.

If beaches is a important prefix then you should go to Didim altinkum. It has a great beach but it's full of Brits.
What I know dervishes has madresa in Istanbul and gives shows to tourists.

Best regards

I missed Istanbul soooo much. I know every knock and cranny there by heart. Every street every lamp even. From Galata kubresi to fennerbahce I know it all. Ah what would I do for a month there.

Russia has more active military personnel than Turkey. If Russia is not considered European, then Turkey can not be considered European.

Russians don't like to be called Europeans dude. They associate the Union to be a lackey of US and if you want to annoy Russian, call them that. Why would they want to be called European? 70% of their land is in Asia, their country is 5-8 times the size of entire Europe.

They are a power to themselves.

Turkey OTOH has an unbreakable link with Europe due to being a bridge between east and west. Its standards of development are European, its cities are managed in European and western style. Also it is a member of an alliance that has mostly Europeans in it (NATO).

Where's the connection?

The most emphatic proof of this fact can be gained if anybody carries out a public poll/survey all around Europe asking if they would consider Russia or Turkey more European.

Government positions dictate international facts. Not polls. If polls were even a measure, half the the world would have gotten rid of their governments.

There was no need to use personal insults since for many historical reasons, the appellation "Turk" is considered an insult in many parts of Europe - the same region that Turks desperately want to be associated with.

They're not "desperate" mate, they are Turks by origin. Why would they care what others consider as derogatory? What're you trying to say?

Sticking to the topic, I once had this sweet delicacy from Turkey called Lokum. So totally loved it. :D

I tried searching for the stuff in some of Delhi's "foreign" markets but unfortunately, couldn't find it. Last year, was supposed to go to Turkey but fell ill and a colleague of mine went there instead of me.

This time will make sure to visit the country.

BTW I have a question to Turkish members here:

Would it be a problem if I visit Turkey by having an Israeli stamp in my passport? I know rest of middle east has issues with it but is there any such rule that has come up which would prevent an Indian to visit Turkey by having Israeli stamp in his passport?

I googled around as this topic is of interest to me as well. I am preparing for a Turkey trip in Sept but have been thinking whether to combine Israel too or keep it for later along with Jordan.

Looks like there is no issue -

Thanks! Will keep that in mind when I visit your country. Planning a summer vacation combined trip to Israel (courtesy a pen friend) and Turkey.

Can't wait to try on Turkish cuisine. The Turkish tourism summit that we had here in India had some kickass food. :D

Banglar, please elaborate, which of those statements are exaggerated?

See BronzePlaque; he will be hard-pressed to do that. Its just innate jealousy and intrinsic inadeaquacy that is expresing itself.
Some people (for the oddest of reasons) are determined to hobble themselves and remain tied down to a Medieval past.

Turkiye decided to pursue its own destiny and acted decisively to actualise it. Full credit to Kemal Ataturk and the Turkish people who were farsighted enough. The fruits of that "clear-headed thinking" are clearly visible now!

Trust me dude, that won't be a problem at all. Many Turks still visit Israel and Israelis Turkey. One of my Turkish friends recently studied a semester in Israel, and no one asked any questions and it didn't pose problems at all.

That is correct. I've visited both countries a number of times and one after another a couple of times. Faced no problems.

Turkiye is a clear-headed far-thinking country. It will avoid getting bogged down in meaningless and unproductive issues.
