Why does it say "reaching $7.6B" ?

Turkey doesnt export 7.6 billion dollars with arms and weapon systems abroad.

Although I wish they would. Turkey should make a comprehensive plan to become one of the top 7 worlds defence exporter.

A lot of Turkish projects seem to be hitting the wall though. Altay is stuck. Anka program is having hiccups. And I don't even know what happens to TFX and all.

Arab countries and Turkey can do joint ventuers and share the cost of R&D. Arabs have lots of capital. They need to do something worthwhile for once

It literally answered in the link that twit twitted;

754

It is not yearly figure, but total figure in last 5 years.

Turkey will get to where Israel is for certain, even surpassing it some fields (Naval-Aviation). What industry requires is support of the current and future government for another 10 years, then the funds coming in will certain fuel R&D.

Altay isn't stuck - the plan was always to have Otokar develop Altay and then have another tender to select who builds them. Who builds Altay will be selected within few weeks, may take a year to setup production facility and then first serially produced tanks will come a year later.. Definitely not stuck, and the development continues with Indigenous engines, active protection and development of a 120mm barrel launched ATGM. Start reaching out beyond traditional 120mm shells.

Anka's development model was weird and not too well relayed to mere civilians by our Media. The staggered development model of Anka worked on two different models; Software development stage, hardware development stage.

Anka-A paved the way for software and avionics development using OTS hardware.
Anka-B paved the way for hardware and sensor development using indigenous hardware with update to the airframe (as much as our industry is capable of)
Anka-S is the amalgamation of both A and B variants, first serially produced Anka will be rolling out this year and being added to Turkish Inventory.
Development of an armed Anka has been going on for a while (as is rumoured during Anka-B development), so it wouldn't surprise me if Anka-S all of a sudden had missiles attached it..

Last 3 years have seen export stabilise

They need to find additional channels expand current channels and optimise further

Otherwise this stable export will soon decease when other big players take share of the market

Being NATO member around 50% exports part of exchange deals but they need to get serious with other markets

Pakistan trading is going good but a lot of money to be made in Middle East

Except Middle-East/Gulf countries use weapon deals as political leverage. Meaning other nations will profit more.
Also Turkey still lacks certain critical technologies which makes export difficult.

If Pakistan has learnt anything from the basic trainer, advanced trainer and fighter jet portfolio Super Mushshak, K-8 and JF17 that is that you first need to have a very good marketing strategy

Until China didn't get involved and set up the joint China-Pak sales committee to properly market the products Pakistan was just running around getting no where

Now Nigeria and Myanmar have JF17 ready for delivery with another 3 nations close to signing

This whole thing about politics and technology is false start

If you want to sell you will sell, simple as that, but you need to have the right strategy

Turkey needs to sort out its marketing strategy judging by those numbers otherwise those numbers will soon drop off competition is tough in the arms market

Speaking as someone from the gulf region. Mushshak basic-trainer entered the RSAF service long time ago. as for Turkish defense equipment's there's an increasing number of users among gulf states. and showed interests in many Turkish weapons.
