Turkish Defence Industry Exports & Updates

Turkey's defense industry exports value up slighly in 2015 Anadolu Agency

Turkey's defense exports for the first four months of this year were valued at $461 million, a 1.36 percent increase from the same period last year
, according to figures from the Turkish Exporters' Assembly.

The U.S. was the largest purchaser of Turkish defense hardware with 40 percent of the country’s total defense exports, worth a total of $182 million. Other major markets were Malaysia with $54 million and the Spain, spending around $33.5 million.

The top export items were aircraft, helicopter parts, engines, armored land vehicles, speed boats, missiles, rockets, launch platforms, light weapons and electronic systems including transmitters, simulators, sensors and software.

Defense industry products make up only 1 percent of total exports, which are valued at $49 billion in the first four months of 2014.

Turkey's exports in the defense and aviation industries combined reached $1.6 billion in 2014, up from $1.4 billion in 2013.

When we start to export platforms these numbers will multiply inshallah... And for this we should have our own engines... We may export some platforms with foreign engines but it will not be so much... But when we got indigenous engines we will rock also we will be able to sell platforms even cheaper. ..

It's disappointing. I expected a larger increase like ~15 percent compared to the same period last year.
